How many of you have clown liability insurance? I know I need to get it, and I've seen policies out there for clowns. But I've been too cheap and lazy to do it. I know it would just take one incident to wipe us out financially, but.... How many of you have this type of insurance? Have you heard of clowns being sued?

Yes indeed, I have insurance. Wouldn't be without it. I get mine through World Clown (WCA) WELCOME TO WORLD CLOWN ASSOCIATION (http://www.worldclown.com)

I'm considering going with this organization:
Specialty Insurance Agency - Entertainer Insurance (http://www.specialtyinsuranceagency.com/)

I need to take the time to compare coverages from both because I've heard though other forums that the WCA Insurance doesn't cover certain things involving face painting, which I do a lot of. But the second insurance is a little more expensive than the other.

Let us know what your research reveals!

We don't have insurance and have only had to turn down one job that required it. We are interested in getting some, though, and will be interested in seeing otherclown's replies.

Specialty Insurance is the one that I use Sparky. I like the fact that If I have to get a copy to a client. That isn't the right wording, There are times when you need a copy of your insurance that also has the clients name attached on the official insurance papers. Anyway, that service is free. I have heard of it costing between $30 and $50 to get that done. Since it tends to be the bigger clients that want insurance it is doubly worth getting because then you have a names to post on your "Glory page" and they will be names the general public are likely to recognize.

I've had insurance through COAI the last few years. The price isn't bad and Stephanie was very helpful when I called. I would recommend it. The company used to be called Clowns of the US but I think they expanded the name to Specialty Insurance and www.entertainersoftheus.com (http://www.entertainersoftheus.com)
I really should look in the last Calliope but if I do that I won't have the time to catch up a little more on the Forum. I am teaching a balloon class in the morning I need to prepare a little more for.
