So did you do your homework from the
last tip I sent you on picking out some
restaurants to showcase your skills? Hopefully
you started making your list of the type of
restaurants that attract the customers you would
like for your clowning business.
Ok, so now here's how to get the booking. First,
eat at the restaurant! Notice if they are quick
to get food out to the customers or if their
kitchen tends to be a little slower.
While you are there get the name of the General
Manager and his or her phone number. Don't
approach them just yet or even say why you want
the info...you are still doing your research. It
will be pretty easy to get this info.
When you are ready to make your contact with the
GM, call during their slowest hours. This is
usually Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday from
2:30-4:00pm and try to set up an appointment to
see them during their slow hours.
When I call a restaurant to get an appointment, I
make sure that I have written out a little script
so that I am not 'umm....uhhh....ummm' on the
phone. I want to make sure to sound very
professional. This is really important. On page
72 of the Clown Marketing Blueprint
www.ClownMarketingTips.com/blueprint
I go into alot
more detail about how to write scripts and sound
professional.
Here's briefly what I would say, 'Hi Danielle,
thanks for taking my call. My name is Esther
Beris and I am a professional entertainer. I
noticed while eating in your restaurant the other
day that you have a great kids menu. I would be
interested in helping you boost your family night
business through the use of my services. Is there
a time next week that is convenient for us to meet
at the restaurant?'
It's short and to the point. Notice I did not say
I am a clown. This is only because when you say
you are a clown they start thinking 'circus' in
their head and cannot conceivably think how they
can use a clown in their restaurant so they might
not be open to meeting with you.
In our next Clown Marketing Tip we'll talk about
the do's and don'ts to get the gig, what to bring,
what to wear & how to price your services.
I'm sure these tips are useful for building your
business. You can leave a real-live testimonial
on how useful the information is by calling my
testimonial phone line at 1-800-609-9006 x9829.
Yours for more shows, more money and more fun
