I am looking for a Professional costume maker other than Mooseburger. I love her stuff (she custom made my red costume for me), but I just cannot afford it right now.

Thanks!

I found a UK company who have a small family run factory where they make chefs trousers and jackets! These are ideal clown costume makers! I emailed them a few pictures of what I’m looking for and I’m just waiting on their reply regarding price. The chef’s trousers and jackets are under $80.00 for the pair, so I’m hoping they can put something together for under $200.00 for me, which is half the price of Mooseburger!

Will let you know how I get on and if I do order I’ll send you some pics of final piece.

Smacky - you might try Costumes by Barbie. I haven't seen her at a COAI convention in a couple of years now but she does make quality costumes and her style is similar but identifible as a Barbie. I belive she is based in Texas but i don't have contact information right noe.

Will keep you posted on this – I have just spoken with the factory owner, Alan, and he seems really nice! I am going to send him a sketch of what I want along with my measurements and details such as hidden cuff pockets etc. Then he has a particular machinist that has experience in making costumes who is going to work off my designs. He is doing the first outfit at cost for me, and then I can go back to him asking for any changes I want. They are going to keep my design/measurements on file so any future costumes will be made using this design as a template! They are also able to do stilt walking trousers and material props!!!

I gave him a £150 budget to work off, but he thinks he can do a two piece custom outfit for under £100.00 ($200.00 or €124.00). When you consider the US manufacturers are charging $500 +, delivery takes an eternity and the shipping is expensive, I think this is a bargain!

Once I get my first outfit I will post some pictures and if it turns out well I’ll do a little promoting for him in the clown world!

Watch this space!

I have two costumes by Sonhotropical. I love them both. They are unlined, but perfect for Texas.

Check out my Flickr page for a photo.

I made my wardrobe from item I bought at the Salvation Army Store. I spent a total of $5. But then again, I am a Tramp Klown. It works for me though.

See what I mean:

Also, If you want to make your wig cap match your skin tone better, use the same flesh colored makeup and carefully powder both sides after you get it worked in.
I really love the pic, and the look!
Cheers,
Scruffy

Thanks Scruffy. I've been going wig-less most of the time. I only bought the wig for competition. I appreciate the tip. I'll do just that.
