I was thinking about getting a puppet, but really don't know what I would use it for. Any suggestions?

If you are thinking about getting a puppet, you must have some ideas. What type puppet are you thinking about? Are you into jokes, teaching kids, or something else?

Ok so I've thought about getting a puppet again, but I don't have a routine, or any ideas. Can someone help me. I was thinking about getting a full body puppet of a clown, or maybe something else. Any ideas?

Barbra Dewey, A christian ventriloquist who makes puppets, made a clown puppet named Chuckles... He didn't talk but it had a sound box in its mouth that made it laugh when she would push it... If you're just begining to use a puppet that might be a good way to start out.

Does Barbara have a website or e-mail? So we can ask about her puppets? Thanks for Sharing this information about Puppets.

You might also check this place out. One Way Street - Puppets and Creative Ministry Resources (http://www.onewaystreet.com/)

Someone here gave me the link for Brenda's book, which is excellent, btw, but they seem to have an endless supply of Christian puppet stuff

I have a little bird puppet I call 'Suds' the absurd bird although I don't use him as much as I do Roccy Raccoon and my spring skunk.

I suggest paying a visit to Axtell Puppets. They have some great resources for Vent and Puppetry.

I am just getting into including developing a puppet routine.
Since my name is Artsy, my puppet is "Smartsy" and is my wisen-heimer crackerjack. I don't want to spend a fortune to buy one so I decided to make my own puppet. I have theater experience making props and costumes, so it's just a matter of time before I settle on a design and create it.

(If I could buy it, my dream puppet would be the Corny Crow from Axtell) Does anyone have one to sell for a few crackers?

Anyhow-- Smartsy the Crow is my wiseguy (get it? WISE GUY? Smartsy?) Crows are VERY smart and that's one of the reasons why I chose this particular character.

I also want to include him in a finale trick where he disappears from his cage (and into the nearby suitcase ha ha) and muffle the voice using a prerecorded tape player in the suitcase as he later reappears wearing a hawaiian lei and sunglasses to tell us all about his trip (or something like that) haven't figured it out yet. Since my character is all about Art, I'm thinking of having him reappear wearing a beret like me and just returned from the Louvre. I can make a few punny jokes about the Mona Lisa, etc.

I hope all this chatter helps you to get a spark of an idea for your own puppet use. Puppets have purpose. Find one that you really connect to and take it from there!

Razzle-Dazzle I don't have her contact info however she has lots of videos where she talks about her puppets and how they are made on GodTube.com (http://www.godtube.com)

just do a search for Barbra Dewey
