View Full Version : Chat times.
Scruffy 01-30-2005, 10:11 PM (Taps on mic) hello, is this on?
Ahem, Was just wondering. We would like to see more people on chat but realize the timezones can make it confusing and difficult. we can always chat on thurs any time. but the chat room is now open all the time.. so, we've benn doing sunday evening too. what times are you availible to have an open chat. please respond if interested.
Thanks bunches.
mr_buckaroo 01-30-2005, 11:00 PM to add my two cents to this. right now i am avalable at most anytime to chat if we set it up before hand and would love to talk to more of you around the country and the world we have a great group here and we want to keep ppl coming and interested.
Scruffy 01-31-2005, 05:15 AM If we could do omething earlier in the day on thur. it would be great! The Us eastern time zone is six ans a half hours behind the UK.And we would like an opportunity to chat with more members.
please let us know what time would work for you.! thanks
Scruffy
I'd like to see the chat room open all the time, and see some sort of indicator on the main forum page that shows others are in the chat room. This way, while reading posts to the forum, if you see that there's someone chatting you can know to join them. I also like the idea of a scheduled meeting in the chat room at a predetermined time. Personally, I like Friday or Saturday nights. Not too early, not too late, you know....just right....
WHAT!?!?
shady_lamps 01-31-2005, 12:34 PM Yeah have to agree. Something that tells us when people are in the chatroom would make it easier. I'm free on Friday and Saturady nights (in my timezone) which would be sometime in the morning for the rest of you.....I think.
School makes it very difficult to get on here and so I cant stay up very late. But I'd love to try a few Saturadys and Sundays.
nadie 01-31-2005, 03:17 PM yes, friday or saturday nights are more likely to be a better time. I could do around 10-12sh pm uk time at some point, or almost anytime on saturdays if i can arrange it.
it is just very confusing because i saw in the profile that the time in the forum is set at gMT +10, meaning 10 ahead of us in the uk, which is consistent with the times that appear in your messages, as the last one was on tuesday already and i'm writing this at 9.15 pm in the uk... but may come up as 7 am tuesday...
whatever... if you guys can do early evenings, your 4pm may be my 11sh pm
see you
Ican adjust to any time but Iwill check the room early in the day to see if any one is there
Looking forward to talking to people from the old country
Scruffy 01-31-2005, 03:58 PM Okay. All valid ideas. I wolud love to know who is on also. BTW, Chat is open all the timenow. I think we are stuck with the softwear package we have for this time. We chat on thursday evenings.
Nadie according to your last post it was 9:15 pm UK time. Was made at 4:15pm You are five hours ahead of us. so that three o clock our time is eight o clock uk time. (Greenwich mean time).
So, iF our fellow clowns across the pond would like to join us at 8PM on thurs, z(or any other day) and we are hear at three pm eastern. We might actually get to talk!.
Now, this makes sense, I think. Anybody game to try it? I'll try to be here tomorrow(Tues.) to see if this works.
Anybody game?
shady_lamps 01-31-2005, 04:05 PM I'm game!, will try to be there ! 8)
nadie 02-01-2005, 05:29 AM hei, i'll try then
Scruffy 02-01-2005, 06:08 AM I might be a few minutes late. I need to pickup my kids from school.
nadie 02-03-2005, 05:41 AM oops,
i thought it was on thursday, not tuesday. however, something came up and i won't be able to chat tonight... apologies, will try again.
We have chat on thurs at 8 est but we thought to try an earier time on tues to alloow people in England and Ireland to chat with us we just have to get the time difference down and come up with a time that is good for everyone
saphireSue 02-03-2005, 11:04 PM For me i have a day job so earlier times won't work during the week, may be planning one on a sat or sun. I could get on earlier then. Hey what every works for the most is fine with me to.
Scruffy 02-04-2005, 05:57 AM We thought we would try to have an international chat on Sunday,6 february at two pm eastern time. I believe that would put it at about seven pm GMT.
If someone from the UK would please send me a PM. it will log in to here and tell me the time you posted in my time zone. Please tell me the date and local time AM or PM.
I figure if nothing else we'll solve this puzzle :D
thanks,
Scruffy
saphireSue 02-05-2005, 07:16 PM That time sounds great, I'll probably miss this one, but I'll try the next. We're supposed to have a good day and My dad wants to ride around in the country after church to show me his old haunts [some thing we've talked about for years], and you all know that right now we just waiting until the Dr. will let him have surgery. I'm taking advanage of any time I get with them nowk, while I can. Sorry so long but I didn't want you guys to think I was unsupportive and next time I'll try to be here.
Scruffy 02-06-2005, 05:07 AM Family First, Sue. Enjoy the day with your dad!
Today is the dayy. we shall try a chat today,6 Feb. At 2 PM.
BettyNZ 03-14-2005, 05:06 PM Hi all,
I'd really like to chat, but I'm having trouble working out the times - East USA time - is that New York time ? - that would make it 17 hours behind New Zealand - not taking into consideration day light savings. So... I guess I'd be here 8am Wed for your Tues 3pm session and 1am fri for your thursday 8pm hmmmmm don't think i'll make that one!
I think I'll log on at just after 8am and then 9am just in case and try and catch someone
looking 4word to chatting
Scruffy 03-14-2005, 05:44 PM Betty,
Eastern time is the time it is in New York. Which is five hours earlier than Greenwich mean time( GMT).
I hope this helps. We'd love to join you for chat!
I'll be there, but a little late since I've got a party my daughter's going to.....a rollerskating party! I've already got on my St Patrick's best w/o makeup since we dressed up at work, so I'm hoping to drum up some business.
Jubilee 03-28-2005, 01:28 PM The first Thursday of the month, I have a clown meeting, so... I also have a problem in that I can't log on from home right now, but I will soon have that capability again! I'll let you know when I can do it.
Jubilee
Fliptheclown 03-31-2005, 08:10 AM I see a lot of people want to chat on Thursday nights.... Does anyone want to chat tonight around 9ish EST?
mr_buckaroo 03-31-2005, 01:09 PM flip thursday is our normal chat nite we are here somewhere around 8 or 9 pm est. hope to see you there we have a great time.
RedClownFred 04-26-2005, 07:43 PM Would love to chat on Thursdays, but have Bible Study! But I do like the idea of being able to see who is online to chat with when the spirit rises! Besides it sounds like a designated chat period is hard to accomplish between conflicting schedules and different time zones. Good luck with the outcome!
RedClownFred 04-26-2005, 07:48 PM By the way, I just post at 5:43 pacifc time but the post time says 10:43pm. Scruff, could you refresh my memory (and maybe some others) which time zone is posted? That sounds like Greenwich Time, but I'm not sure how that correlates to Pacific time. Thank you much!
Scruffy 04-27-2005, 04:23 AM Fred,
If you go to the settings page ANd find the setting for the clock, I believe you need to set yours for GMT minus seven hours. When you posted at 5:43 it said 7:43 on my clock. The only catch being the daylight savings time bit. I'm not sure in the UK observes it. I don't believe they do. If Shady Lamps or any of our other members overseas can reply to this, I can figure it out.
I'm in the eastern zone and keep m set for gmt minus five hours. Last I knew it was accurate.
Hope this helps.
Doc & Jasper 03-27-2006, 06:04 PM Pick a time and Doc and Jasper are willing to chat and maybe we can get Miss-fit to join the chat too.
