I am very interested in becoming a clown that entertains children at birthdays, church events, etc. I have always enjoyed making people laugh. I don't know much about being a clown. I can use all the help I can get. I am planning on getting a couple of books and reading Websites that have information on clowning. I want to tell jokes, do magic tricks, and other activities such as balloons. What do you guys think? What should a new clown with no experience charge per hour (I live in a rural area) ?

Thanks!
Darrell

I've gone several times and will be attending this year. They usually draw several big names in the Ministry, although I do not know who will be there this year but in the past they've had, Pinky, Sonshine, Bubba Sikes, Freckles, Liberty and Bell, La la Mister Magish just to name a few. they have classes on every thing and the best part..venders where you can see and try out things before you buy.

Welcome Darrell!
Prices range all over the map. It depends on the quality of show that you put on and the level of professionalism that you exibit. I would contact other clowns in the area and just ask what their rates are for events. You might check online for rates also.

Thanks to everyone for the greetings. I am planning on coming to the chat this Thursday. I probably won't know what to say so please don't think I am rude if I don't say much. I am really excited about becoming a clown. I have wanted to become a clown for some time but I guess I didn't think I had what it takes. The only way I will ever know is to try. I can use all the help I can get!

Idont think any of us thought we had what it took but went ahead anyway
And Ifor one am glad I did but it does take work and the will to stick it out
But the rewards are worth it the first time you get a hug from a child you will be hooked

Hi Darrell! In your clowning career if you never do anything more than put a smile on one sad child's face, I think you will realize it was all worth it! Go for it!!! Red Clown Fred - www.clownconceptual.com
