Dear friends,
Could one of you wonderful experienced magicians help out a clown that's still pretty new to all this stuff??

I've got the book 12 Gospel Tricks with a Rope. Well, it's got some great routines & pretty decent pictures, but I'm still having problems... I'm a visual learner & just can't seen to get some of the tricks from what it says.

The first one I'm stuck on seems really simple but I just can't figure it out. It's "through the eye of the needle". It's the very first trick in the book & I just don't get it... HELP!!!

If anyone could post a video or send me a video or give any help at all I'd appreciate it.

Is that the one where you show a loop and put the rope through it without ever letting go of it?

It's a great trick, but hard to explain. I understand why you might be having problems with it. I'll see what I can come up with later when I'm at home. Maybe some photos will help.

something like that i think... see that's part of the problem i'm having with it... I'm not even exactly sure what it's supposed to do. the directions & drawings for that one are about as clear as mud!

Okay, I hope the pictures help...

Flickr: bubblesandwowza's Photostream (http://www.flickr.com/bubblesandwowza)

The trick is that you make a loop and explain that if you wanted to put one end of the rope through the loop, you'd have to take your hand off. Demonstrate that. Then you say that a magician (or clown) can do it easier. Then you force the rope through the loop and the rope is clearly seen, and the loop can be pulled up by the rope that just went through it.

The photostream is out of order. There are 7 steps and a shot of the trick setup.

Let me know if this still isn't clear and I'll see what I can do.

Wowza, THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!! I totally got it from your pictures AND description! It's all in how you pick up the loop & then the other end. I knew it had to be something simple that just wasn't explained very clearly in that book. I couldn't get it from their instructions or pictures, but yours did it! Thanks again!!

Jolly Well, thanks for the link! I'm gonna check it out to see if they have more tricks on there.

God Bless you both!!

I have been trying to use that double decker stanly case. I am ready to toss it. It will not roll well over grass, it falls apart all the time. I guess it is back to the drawing board.

Harmony,

You are most welcome. It was a pleasure to post the photos. I'm glad it all worked out for you!

My cart is a Stanley Fat Max 3-in-1 tool chest and, as Luki Loki pointed out, is available at Lowe's and Home Depot. I've since decorated it, and will have to post pictures of it now that it's been clownified.

sounds interesting. i'll have to check it out. i never though about a tool chest for crafting & clowning supplies... i'll have to see what i can come up with when we get a little extra $$. We are all spent out right now with the new house. We've been there since February, but we're still having to pick up little things here & there & still making it "ours". Since clowning isn't my $$ maker luxury items like that go on the back burner. I've splurged a little too much already with the magic supplies & now a new shirt. But it's all good! All my investment goes to a good cause if it makes an eternal difference in just one life!!
