Well I'm new to clowning and need any and all kind of help i can get. I'm a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA) and will be performing for kids at biker rallies across Texas. My chapter has a thing for kids with snacks, skits, games and the like and now a clown...
The act will be a mixture of comedy, magic and gospel clowning/magic. I can use any advice you guys and gals have for someone starting out. My costume will be a tramp style with a biker look.Like your classice tramp clown but with my biker leather vest and a noveltybiker helmet with Christian and humorous stickers covering it.Also have a buddy airbrushing some leather motorcycle chaps and boots for me to go with my tramp outfit.Any ideas for skits, magic tricks or must have props would be wonderful.Any easy to use gimmicks that work with kiddos age 5 and up would be wonderful. Thanks in advance for your help. and excellent site BTW.

Postle,
I like it. I like it a lot. It sounds like a great opportunity to minister in a pretty clever way.
One problem I have had as both a tramp and a magician is coming up with tricks that don't look like the typical magic trick. One I like is the time tested stratosphere. It involves three different color balls and I've used it for years to quiz kids about the traffic light. it's a good one for a group of kids and is funny because the balls keep switching places.Rope tricks are also good; because, what good man of the road doesn't have a little bit of rope on him?Every trick that you see remember to look at it thought the eyes of a tramp.
CHeck out www.clown-ministry.com there maybe some others over there that can help you too. Look forward to chatting with you soon!

Great to meet you Postle, card tricks might work, I only know one myself and am learning more, but the bikers here go on poker runs for charity so that's why I thought of card magic. If you get a chance join the chat on Thur night around 9pm est they'll help you brainstorm.

Hey there Postle, nice to meet ya! I'm a fellow Texan!

I'm in my second year myself, and these guys are great at brainstorming. If you're in the chat also sometimes it's great to stop by, usually around 8ish central standard time.
