View Full Version : Pickles 1st Costume Resurrected
Pickles 08-14-2008, 10:04 PM Clowns, I dug out my first ever clown costume for an event tonight. I quit wearing a few years ago when a competition judge said he hated the colors. (grrrr.) But I decided I'd take it out and give it another try, and I kind of like it. What do you think? I say, "who cares if the judge didn't like it?"

Salty 08-14-2008, 10:16 PM It's a little dark on my PC as well. It looks like it goes together. If you like it that's all that matters. --Salty

Scruffy 08-15-2008, 07:27 AM Judges are like diapers:
Always on your butt and mostly full of.......
I can't see the colors very well, So I'm assuming that it's yellow and green. I like the style, the fit, the accents: I think it's a good looking outfit.
It reminds me of the clown who was being judged for the first time; he looked better than the competition, but lost because he wasn't wearing a wig.
Wear It. It works. Others would kill for something that looked half as good.
Pickles 08-15-2008, 08:09 AM Thanks, Clowns. I appreciate your input. The lighting was bad in those pics -- sorry. The polka dot dress and striped shirt are black & white, and I think that's probably what the judge didn't like. Maybe atypically dark for a clown. I'm totally over my costume sensitivity regarding that judge though, and I'm wearing this outfit again anyway. Thanks.
Sw33tiePie 08-15-2008, 08:39 AM I like the costume and the make up..and all..

You look so cool! I love this costume :)
I really dig the costume and scheme. But... I'd also like to see just a bit of additional contrast. Maybe different color striped shirt and/or socks to break it up a little more and vivify it additionally.

Thats is funny Tim. I was going to say the only thing I would change is the stripe of the shirt. I would like it to match the socks. But if I was judgeing I wouldn't count off for it I don't think. You would be a winner in my line up.
Pickles 08-20-2008, 09:43 PM Tim & Coco: Originally, I wore navy blue and green striped longjohns and shirt under this costume. Not real bright, I know.
When I put it on the other night, I tried a yellow & white striped shirt, but it's not the same yellow as the apron, and I didn't like it.
What if I tried a red & white striped shirt and socks? Do you think that would be a nice contrast and sufficient color?
skwee-gee 08-20-2008, 10:43 PM Hey! I totally love the green hair (as I told you at camp)
I'm afraid red and white striped with green might be
Christmasy.........how about orange?
Well you know what I'll say... It's not the costume, it's the clown in it. And you're A.O.K. in my book :)
Saxlampouxlas 08-21-2008, 12:44 AM You look so cute!It' s great. :)

Good point, Skweeg. I just scored an orange and white shirt at the local thrift shop, too. Woohoo. Do they make orange & white striped socks?
pixcoco 08-21-2008, 08:45 AM I would try the red. The yellow is more dominant than the green. And the holiday colors are designed that way because they are some of the best color schemes on the color wheel. So give it a go.
The orange might be ok if it is not that day glow orange. Unfortunatly that seems to be what is avalible in clown socks.
Which ever you try, add a spot of the color on your hat for balance.
Purple would be a nice color but with so much black I'm afraid it would darken it to much. Don't get me wrong...I like black in a clown costume.
Firefly 08-24-2008, 10:08 PM The judge must've been jealous. The costume is absolutely faaaabulous dahling
