View Full Version : Here is what I am thinking...

So I have been thinking some about costuming lately.

It is not a habit of mine. I usually don't think or care about what clothes I wear, mainly it is what ever I have at hand at the time and is in the ball park appropriate for where ever I am going.

But I was wandering through the market in Busan (or Pusan) last week and a vision for a clown costume just sort of hit me.

It was a long night shirt that triggered it. Ya know, basically a t-shirt with a very long trunk that goes all the way to the knees. They have them in all the underwear shops here. I was thinking about a white or light brown one of those with a picture or drawing on it (the one that triggerd it had goofy on it). Then making some extra large red suspenders that reach all the way over it front to back. Then get some large colorful striped stockings (warm colors) for my legs (and some gym shorts ;)) and use my eight corner (newsboy) hat or make a new and bigger one. Keep my rusty hair and beard, and my red nose and minimal make up.

I drew a really rough picture in my notebook so I wouldn't forget.

A couple of days later I realized that it was such a Russian/European clown (modeled on 19 century peasants like hobos are modeled on early 20th century hobos) look. But with my natural affinity for scruffiness and slightly asymmetrical facial features, I think it would really work for me! I like the idea of some dissonance between my scruffy beard and a not exactly a dress night shirt. Next month when I have money again, I think I am going to go to Seoul and start putting it together.

Just thought I would share? Thoughts?

Like I said it is a really rough drawing for the general idea.
