Just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.
I am just getting started in clowning at 33 years old. I am actually in the "soak up all the info and learn all you can before you make a move" stage.
My interest in clowing has peaked due to my involvement with the preschool/children's ministry at my home church. I had been asked many times to join the Rally Team for the Children's Sunday School class "Treasure Land". Basically the children rotate activities pertaining to that days Bible lesson and the last stop is the Rally Room where we sing, dance, do some puppetry, drama, comedy and the like, all reinforcing that days lesson. Anyway, I finally gave in and I have been hooked ever since. I want to help take "Treasure Land" and my own clowning further for God's Kingdom.
I haven't really come up with a character yet, allthough I have come up with a name - "Gecko D. Clown". This name is based on 1 Cor 9:22 where Paul says he would be "all things to all people in order that some will be saved." I also happen to like Gecko's, but their Cameleon attributes are what really appeal to me as that mental picture will afford me to be many things to many people.
So there it is in a nutshell... allbeit, a very big nutshell. I'm seeking, I'm learing and I'm having a blast.
Take care and God Bless,
Dorian "Gecko D. Clown" LaChance
PS. Anybody from/in Mississippi? What about training venues, are there any of those near me?
