Who, if any do/have done costumed characters i.e. Grand Openings for corporates...
How much do you usually charge per hour?

Thanks in advance for the feedback!

Sorry not me, and the hassel of getting the rights to use a certain character, not to mention some of those costumes are hot, not me.

The money is Good for these events (the two that we have signed on for). I will be a Princess, Funny Bonz will be the Keebler Elf. I don't think they could have cast him in a better role if I had chosen..
We don't have to worry about rights as this is the corporation we'll be working for's job.

Just curious folks.
Thanks

I don't think this is true. Odds are Nabisco will never know, but getting the rights is not something I would leave to another unless they can produce proof they have obtained the license from the owner.

Thanks Luki !! I will contact NCIM and see if they can produce documentation on the rights to the Keebler Elf. I have never done this before and that is why I came to the clown forum to see if I could get the questions above answered and see what advice anyone could give me that may have "been there done that".
Thanks again!

Thank You Dan! It's really hard to get to it all while moving into a home in the middle of fall fest. time! Please do PM us Dan and let us know what a reasonable fee for your service per hour would be!!
Thanks again Dan!
Oh, and how far south would you be willing to go??

I did Spider-Man last year when Spider-Man III was released on DVD. I was cast by Marvel Characters Appearance Program, so I didn't have to worry about licensing. They paid a fixed fee for the event. I did the Panda at the National Zoo's ZooLights last Christmas. They provided the costume and I did it as an unpaid volunteer.

I have been on the email list for a few event/marketing companies and they have sent out information about events where they need mascots. Again, they would provide the costume and pay a fixed rate (I have seen rates between $15-50/hour). If you were to get your own costume and all, then you could become a mascot for hire, but I would avoid any famous named characters.

I have several costume characters. I usually charge $150.00 per hour plus $1.25 per mile one way. However I am starting to phase out our costume line for serveral reasons.

1. They are extremely hot.
2. They are hard to move around safely in.
3. Alot of children are afraid of them.
4. They are hard to store.
5. You must send as assistant for each character. So they are labor intensive.

Hope this helps. Good Luck.
