I did a show with the vanishing bandana this weekend in N.C. and the DJ damaged my CD. The host (and fellow magic enthusiast) picked up a replacement from their local magic vendor, but the CD is horrible!

Does anyone here have the female "Acme Magic" version that would be willing to send me a copy (preferably via mp3 online, but any will suffice)?

I've a digital copy (mp3) of the Acme Magic version of this trick if anyone wants it. In my opinion it is by far, the best version of this trick and has unfortunately become nearly obsolete with the introduction of all of the "new and improved" versions.

I'd like one please!
Thanks Jolly!

Could somebody tell me what size of devil's hankie you use for an average size banana?

I have the female version...do you still need it?

The download link DOES work. Click to go to it rather than right clicking and saving as. I'm still getting a ton of emails asking for this and I do not reply to them. I don't have time to continually send out the file, hence my posting it online. Please follow the link provided later in this thread instead of emailing me for the file.

I use the one that came with my banana/bandana still (making one soon out of better fabric colors) - I've not measured it and not near it, but the standard 17x17 seems right...

Has the banana ever fell out at the end on you when you open the bag?...lol that has happened more times that i care to talk about.

Fortunately no, but I have a friend who threw his banana every time he did this until he learned how to handle his hank. I've seen people who sew their pouches closed a bit more than standard when they have issues and it seems to work well for them. I'm going to make (or rather have Chasity) one or more in that fashion to play around with for a bit...

I just received a request from former Clown Forum member Jolly Well asking me to revive this thread, where he provided a link to a free download for for the Vanishing Bandanna trick audio. He has been inundated with requests for this, and wants everybody to know where they can find it. I just performed this routine for the first time and it was very funny and well-received. Check it out of you aren't familiar with it.

If the audio is still floating around out there...I'd like a copy.

I was just given this trick and it is the best thing since a cream pie for clowns....there are videos you can watch on youtube.. My only suggestion is that is you do do it.. Use a semi ripe banna instead of one that is still firm. It will compress better in the hanky...

My hankie has a plastic pouch that is velcro and is washable.. Plus the corners that need to be upward when you open it have a little b-b sewn in so you just feel and grab them...works every time. No hassles.. I have a cd that has maLe and female versions fo the routine..

Do this instead of emailing your requests for the file.

When I perform as a magician, I uses this in a lot of my shows. I use the version from Magic Enhancer.

They give you a FANTASTIC audio routine. It gets tons of laughs, and is about 8 minutes. They also supply you with a devils hank that has a removable plastic insert so you can clean it easier.

I dont own the whole kit, I contacted them and purchased just the audio and burned it myself. I use the devils hank from Bazar De Magia, the pocket is in the middle, and has two beads sewn into the top corners so you know where to grab.

I had used the 3 minute version but it never got as much reaction as the routine should get.

how much did it cost for just the audio from them? i know the full routine if you buy everything is like 75 bucks and that's the only thing keeping me from it. I don't have that much to blow right now with moosecamp, the fling, and possibly twist and shout coming up

I honestly do not remember what I paid, but it was between $20 and $30 It may seem a bit high, however, the routine is absolutely perfect. It is recorded by a professional voice over. I would give them an email. The website is magicenhancer.com

This is one of my favorite routines to perform. In my shows, I either do this or the artomatic drawing board as the big piece before the finale. It depends on the audience, for family and stage, this is always included, right before the straitjacket escape.

Alright I know this is an old thread, but I would like a copy of the mp3 file if possible. Seems the file has been long deleted. If not maybe a script so I can make my own recording.

I highly recommend buying it from the creator, rather than downloading the MP3.

Magic Enhancer makes a great version. You can call or email them to buy just the MP3, or buy the complete kit that comes with a really cool special cloth that makes cleaning up easy.

Another option for those on a budget is to type up a script. Have a member of the audience read it for you, step by step. You can use a very simple format, then ham it up as you go through the steps.

The gimmick is the key to making it work, but the script is the key to making it fun.

I don't do it with a banana, which is why I don't use the canned recordings. When I have a kid read the instructions to me I can get silly about what I choose to vanish. My favorite was "Chet's cheese stick." Poor kid was afraid his snack would never come back! Good laughs when I produced the snack again. I mentioned that I've found in practicing that I lose a lot of weight if I use food to practice with.

If you want to add funny puns and silly phrasing to the script, you can. For a kid's birthday party, have a mom read it as you go through the motions.

Great trick, but if you need to bring a boom box to perform it, that is one more thing to carry. If you are not going to shell out for the professional recording, just work up a script. It is just a specialized application of the old Devil's Napkin so using it for a comedy vanish trick isn't ripping anyone off. Using it with word-for-word copying of the banana script is.

Brainstorm idea:
If you are a hobo clown, you can have the gimmick cloth on a stick for a hobo's bindle and do it as a production routine. Show the cloth empty, then tie it on the stick, and start producing items that pack flat but look too big for the bindle. Silks are great for this. A whole lot of silks can be put in a small space. If you have fold-flat props, you can produce items that end up filling a table and prepare you for other routines.

(Disclaimer - I only just thought of that idea, I have never tried it, can't say how well it will work, but I do know I can fit several items into my devil's napkin.)

It's funny to find this thread after the weekend I had. I Had a copy of the trick on tape. (Cassette tapes were this old silly thing which I can never seem to squeese into my cd player.) I wrote up a script and had a pretty well educated kid of about 11 read it but it just didn't have the same reaction as the recording. (And my script was pretty darn funny.) I may just need to find a way to transfer a tape to mp3.

Oh and if your banana is falling out sew buttons to the top corners of your hank and you'll never be able to accidently hold it upside down. (Make the buttons match the fabric.)

just a quick little hint on this trick. i put a zip lock bag insade the devils hankie so i dont have to clean out the insided everytime. it really helps keep the magic trick in good condition, and instead of throwing away the bag, i guess you COULD wash it if you wanted to?

Hey Guys jumped on this thread little too late. The mp3 link is now dead. Purchased two versions of the Vanishing Bandanna, neither the versions I wanted. :( If anyone could send me the "Acme Magic" version male or female would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

I have to retrieve the mp3 from my old (and nearly dead) laptop. I'll try to get the file uploaded somewhere again in the coming days.

I'd still not recommend that 8 minute version. Imo it takes a lot away from the trick in trying to be funny (and fails). I see a few people here and there who perform and prefer that version, but most of them came about the trick when that was the modern version and never truly experienced the old acme audio.

Laptop seems to have met it's end unfortunately. Not sure if I have the file anywhere else but I'll search my old storage devices. If not, you can hopefully contact the others in this thread who've gotten a copy.

I will confirm for Mr. Woolery. Our troupe has been doing the Acme Magic skit as a two clown skit! and it works every time. yes we did type up our own script and make our own tweaks to it per some performances and/or clown type.

I have also typed up a script and done it for a birthday party. I did get with the Dad earlier when booking over the phone and asked it if he would like to help with a part of the show. He agreed, I typed it up and slipped in the "yellow bandana" before the start of the show. Then when I got the "Acme Magic" box out with instructions...I asked if he could read it for me. It worked pretty good.

I have the script if anyone wishes...just drop me a note.
