Ok, so I'm an idiot. My plan was to play around with a lite auguste look (I'm usually a whiteface, but I hate having to put that white makeup down my neck). I got all made up, took pictures to post, then took off my makeup. It wasn't until I looked at the photos that I realized I FORGOT MY NOSE. Aggh! What kind of clown am I? Anyway, please look and imagine a red nose on there...and tell me if you like this look better than my usual whiteface.

I think it looks great Pinky. I'm used to you as a white-face though. Your white-face clown was very approachable but I'm sure lite auguste will suit you just fine too. I want to see a pic with this makeup as well as your costume.

Pinky, have you thought about adding a spandex hood?
It's beats the tar out of doing the neck and ears.

Pinky,

You amaze me the way you achieve perfection on your first attempts. You look cute even without a red nose!!

I like it! But I don't see how it is "lite" auguste. It just looks auguste to me.

It is cute! I am not too knowledgeable about clown make up but I think you could add some black around the freckles so they "pop" a little more. Taking my advice may cause you to look like you have a bad case of necropsing chicken pocks though...

Probably isn't lite, but I called it that 'cause I didn't use the flesh colored base.

I actually like the whiteface, but (and this is gross, sorry) my teeth look so brown when I'm in whiteface. Honestly, it looks like I stole George Washington's Walnut Wood Teeth!

Get a nose on Quick!

Nah, all foolishness aside Pinky, You look Marvelous either way, whiteface or lite Auguste. The Auguste look wins my vote but the important thing is whichever you are most comfortable with.

I love it. I wear a people flesh color on mine. Not only does it even out the skin tone a little (not that you need it) but if you work outside you don't want don't want your clown face tattooed on your face with sun burn. Or even tan.

Coco, can you tell me where you get that color? All the stuff I played around with at Moose Camp was WAY too dark for my skin. And I don't tan (ever), I burn! LOL I burn and then I'm white again.

I use Ben Nye's Light Auguste cream when I am playing with my auguste face, I'm very very fair skinned (Irish!) and it works beautifully.

Clinique...your local mall.

Any people stuff is ok. dependes on your skin type. I'm oily and sesitive so I shell out for clinique.

Oh, I also use loreal eye brow pencil, and their red lip liner. Who says it has to ge grease

I wondered if my regular foundation would work...do you powder? Cause I think if I powdered over regular foundation, I'd be a white mess?

While I often don't use fleshtone, I finally did find a Mehron theatrical stick color which is light enough to not make me just look orange skinned. If you want to go the route of using greasepaint, go to a theatrical supply store where they sell such makeup and ask them to assist you with proper color matching, explaining what you are using it for and how it has to match your skin.

(Really, Trish should have been able to find something for you in that regard. But sometimes you just have to experiment with trial and error before you discover the right thing.)

That said, I'd entirely agree that regular cosmetics products should do the trick, too.

You would powder if it is not a powder base. But I would use flesh powder. I use one of the powder bases so I don't need to add extra. I powder the black and red sticks with baby powder and it does not affect the color.

I also use maybeline water proof liquid eye liner. No powder needed for that one. It is the blackest black you will find. But mistakes do not wipd off. Nice little brush for details.

I have a heck of a time finding regular foundation light enough for my skin, I'm sure there probably isn't a grease paint that isn't actually white that would match mine ;)

Try using a powder blush for the flesh tone. I use ben nye one color blush for flesh color and another for rouge/cheek color. But I ran out of my flesh color recently, and I just bought an over the counter blush close the shade I was using and it worked great.,

It was very tempting... and I actually thought about it ...

Quick question. Do you usually use a nose tip or just paint a dot on the tip of your nose... From your moosecamp pics it is kind of hard to tell.

At camp, I didn't have my nose yet, so I painted either a heart or a circle on it. Now I have a Jim Howle nose tip, and it's a bright pink glittery heart. But I've only worn it once and the glitter's almost come off it. Waaaaah!

Alright, I went to my makeup case and found the fleshtone I use. It's a Mehron stick "OS4 Mid-lite BA.D-07" I think it should work well for any light skin.

I glittered one of his myself years ago. Once you find the right glitter...I coated the tip with my pro nose glue and dipped the tip into the glitter. I had to re do it every now and then but it was easy.

I really like them both, but I'm leaning towards the Auguste face. As far as advice goes, I'd have to agree with what Chance said about the freckles. Being an expert on that subject (my arms look like a connect-the-dots puzzle), I'd recomend making them black enitrely, or at least a little darker. That way they're noticable from a bit further away.

Maybe it is just the dark colored shirt and background (or the missing red nose) but I like the whiteface pinky better. She looks happier. Maybe a little more color on your cheeks would help.

Ben Nye produces about 70 different shades of flesh tones for the theatrical market, and Mehron makes another 40 to 50 shades all in greese, and from the almost white Geisha and Alabaster to the blackest brown Ebony Walnut. There are different lines of color with some being more ruddy and others being more olive.

I guess I never gave much thought to Ben Nye being an actual person. I mean, I must have realized he was a factual guy, but never really considered who he was. I LOVE old movies, and was watching Fallen Angel from 1945 the other night. I was pleased and surprised that BEN NYE was the makeup man on that movie. Cool!
