My daughter does Irish dancing and I'd like to be able to clown at one of their events. But I'm sure they'd love it if I could make an Irish dancer out of balloons. Any ideas? It might be similar to a ballerina or something with a slightly longer skirt and different colours?

If you aren't familiar with what the Irish dancing outfits look like, just google "irish dance dress" and you'll find lots of images come up.

I'd like the design to be fairly simple if possible, but still be recognizable. I imagine the curly wig will be rather time consuming.

The ballerina would be ok, just need to change the skirt and get her arms straight down to her sides... maybe giving her some pinch twist shoulders would do that ok.... And I'd have to change her hair a little.

it's definitely a start, thanks. I'm getting some more balloons on Tuesday, I'll have to experiment a bit then.

with renewed vigor, I'd like to figure this out... there's an Irish Festival in a couple of weeks and I think I'm going to call and see if I can clown there as they are still looking for vendors. As long as they don't charge me to be there I'd like to go for some publicity.... shoudlnt' be too hard to figure out a shamrock too....

If you take Sweetie Pie's design and make arm, hand, leg, ankle, foot, foot, ankle, leg, hand, arm, then twist back in by the neck, that will connect the hands at the sides. Just pinch twist both ankle bubbles, then lock twist the ankles together, then twist the hands in to the waist and you should have an Irish dancer.

I hope that's clear. See pic.

Not bad... I had thought about having the legs in a dancing pose, but if you pinch twist the ankles, I could probably add a little pop twist in there to separate the feet... or even make that where the knees are and add white at that point for the knee socks!

The skirt could still be changed a little and my DH suggested that I could use curling ribbon for the hair, which would go a lot faster than a bunch of little bubbles, especially if I have a bunch of them already done ahead of time.

Ok, I FINALLY got around to figuring this out now that I've had a little more practice and a little more exposure to different ideas... so what do you guys think? Not exactly doable for line work though... it takes a while to make it..

Looks great. Perhaps have a couple of these made up before the show, and just have them decorating your table while you do faster ones for the line.
