I have recived a few request for instructions on the ballarina. So I decided to post them here so I only have to type it one more time.
I will start by saying I saw a pic of a ballarina balloon years ago and set out to make one similar. I had no instructions and just worked it out. I do not remember where I saw the pic. And I suspect over time and with figuring it out by myself...it probly is not the same anyways. But here goes...
I like this best done in 160's, but you can do it in 260's if you want. When I started making this there were not any flesh tone 160's so I used white. I think either works.
Inflate a white 160 a little more than half way. inflate a scrap of yellow about 2 inches with room to work on the end. tie the knots together. make a yellow pinch twist very small right at the top. twist the white 1 inch down and the yellow one also, twist them together making the head and the first piece of hair. bring yellow back up and twist under the pinch twist at the top of the head. cut and tie yellow.
Make a small white bubble for the neck, a 4 inch bubble (first arm) two small bubbles (hands) and another 4 inch bubble then connect back to the base of neck. pinch twist hands. head should be positioned between arms. cut and tie white, saving the remainder for the legs.
Inflate pink 160 a little over half. tie knot to knot of white. make 2 fold twist about 2 inches each way. These are the sleves of the tu tu and the arms should set down in them a bit. Make a 3 or 4 inch bubble (body) and now you make several fold twist for the skirt. I like to have 5 but I often have to use a second pink to get all five unless I am just lucky. You will need the other pink to make shoes anyways.
Now for the hard part. The shoes. Now, if I have a lot of balloons to make I might just skip the shoes. No one will really notice. But for a special child, tip work, or competition, I make the shoes too.
you should have about 10-12 inches of white balloon left. take a couple inches of pink, with some room to work, and tie the knots together. Apple twist the knot into the pink balloon. This may take a little practice. cut and tie the toe of the pink balloon. repeat on the other end of the white balloon. Now fold the white balloon in half and place into the folds of the skirt and pul down into leg position. You can make the laces with a sharpie. pink would be best.
