Scruffy 05-24-2005, 08:22 PM Sue,
I haven't forgotton about the pics. My wife hasn't been able to. And I forgot to ask her.
I'm leaving a message for her!
RedClownFred 05-25-2005, 10:46 PM Saph...I mean Sally, I like it! Can you briefly tell us how Sally Bang and Saphire Sue differ in personality? What is the basic demeanor of both (or maybe they'e the same, what do I know)! Cute outfit! :)
saphireSue 05-25-2005, 11:05 PM Saphire Sue is more of a traditional white face, more serious, leader of my clown ministry group. Basically I'd be the pie thrower not the recipent of the pie in the face. Sue more danty, Southern Bell.
Sally's an auguste , more fun, silly, down home country, can spin a yarn, know's farm and the old way of life. Has a pet pig named Hampton [Hammy for short}, will focus more on country lingo, jokes, songs etc.
ashes 05-27-2005, 08:45 AM Nice persona! All I can say is "Pass the ham when you're done, I'm hungry!"

ashes 05-27-2005, 08:53 AM I'm creating a new character as well. Since Ashes is a life-and-fire-safety
clown, I don't want to do private parties or non-city-related functions with
him.
So, I'm working on a new character -- no makeup, just character that will
be semi-musically inclined and also able to do some magic or balloons or
more traditional clowny stuff.
His name is "Professor Pootwaddle" and that's a tribute to one of my favorite
all-time comedians ("Doodles" Weaver) who was "Professor Feetlebaum", but
always used a nonsensical word "Pootwaddle" for the name of his assistant, or
for mock commercials of products. He did commercials for "Pootwaddle Cigarettes"
and "Pootwaddle Toothpaste". Also, in "Dance of the Hours" he does a commentary
based on the Indianapolis 500, and he has an assistant named Pootwaddle on the
track with a traveling microphone.
If you've not heard of Spike Jones, you owe it to yourself to check out his
music and comedy troupe, of which Doodles Weaver was a small part.
Ashes / Prof. Pootwaddle
saphireSue 05-27-2005, 12:36 PM Ashes, when you get him down, don't forget to send a picture and introduce him. Professer, will he have dress jacket, or Lab coat?
ashes 05-27-2005, 01:02 PM He'll have a 3-piece suit in a wild plaid, and wear a pork-pie hat.
I'll have a web site for him as well -- it's not finished yet either, but
I'll add it when we're all ready.

Tetherball 07-11-2005, 02:47 PM Hi ashes! I remember something about the Spike Jones/Potwandle character. My older brother would play this race track record over and over when we were kids until it started to get all scratchy. Some of the phrases I remember were "It's a beautiful day for the races", "Safety Pin has been scratched", "Assault is passing Battery", "and the winner.....#^@%$@ Feedlebaum"! Wow that brings back some memories! What was the name of that record, and can it still be purchased? I would like to play if for my daughter one day.
ashes 07-11-2005, 02:53 PM Another convert!
Hi, Tetherball ---
You remember a lot of the "snippets" from that song. It would
be Spikes's version of the William Tell Overture.
If you check Amazon.com you can find some compilations of
Spike Jones music still being sold today. I have like 50+
different cd's (some I copied from old albums I have) and I
still look for new compilations because they occasionally have new
versions of songs.
It was "live performance" and they tailored it for the community in
which they were performing so the song wasn't always the same.
There's a few others - Dance of the Hours (automobile race) and
The Man on the Flying Trapeze are the best known.
Take care!

I've got to find some spike jones stuff. I nearly forgot about...
FEEDLEBAUM.....
ashes 07-11-2005, 03:14 PM Hey, Scruffy!
Yup, it's good stuff.
You can also use snippets of the stuff for sound effects,
if you use such things!
try amazon.com - last I checked there were several CD's
and CD sets available.

ashes 07-11-2005, 03:18 PM My costume for "Professor Pootwaddle" is due sometime
this week -- can't wait!!
Ashes
ashes 07-11-2005, 03:20 PM Oh, and it is "Dance Of The Hours" (the automobile race) that
has the assistant "Pootwaddle" down on the track for an interview
with the driver of that car...
