hey there! i must admit upfront that i am not interested in clowning as a profession, but i do have a question pertaining to clown make-up and i thought this would be a good place to ask!

i want to do some white face make-up and need complete coverage... no stubble showing through, etc... even under a spotlight. i was lookin into ben nye clown white base and superwhite powder. will this do the job?

any opinions or advice will be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance!!

Yes.
The other thing to remember is you will get best results if you shave just before you put on your makeup.

And you don't need a lot. What is best is to warm up a pea-sized glob
in the palm of your hand and then spread it on your face. To get it even,
pat it -- patting it lifts the heavy spots and puts them back down.

Best applicator -- your fingers (you never forget them back at home!).

Practice a few times at home in front of your mirror before actually
putting it on for a performance or whatever.

thanks for the help!! i went out to the dance shop where i always buy my stage makeup today. i was plannin on putting a special order in for the clown white... since they usually carry a somewhat limited selection. when i asked for the base and powder... the lady behind the counter told me she had gotten some in today that she had ordered on a hunch that someone was going to come looking for some.

so i guess it was my lucky day!

thanks again!!

androboiwonder, as you can see, you don't have to be a clown to get the answers on Clown Forum. There are a lot of knowledgable clowns (yes we are people too) here, and a true clown will always want to lend a hand! Appreciate you coming to see us...tell a friend, clown or not! :D

thanks again for the warm welcome and all the help!

now for the question... i have played around with the makeup some... and as of now i am getting coverage that is a little spotty... like its a little heavier or lighter in some places. i switched from sponge to fingers and that helped alot... any other tips?

anyone swear by something other than ben nye for a flawless white face??

Keep patting it out with your fingertips -- that helps lift heavy areas
and puts it onto the thinner spots.

If you need to, you can add a little more -- 2 thin layers are far better
than one thick layer!

I use Mehron clown white and after patted out I use Johnsons baby powder to set it. It's worked for me so far. I've worn it for 12 hours straight it in the heat of sunny south Florida and it seemed to do the trick. I still want to try some of Kryolan's (sp) setting powder. Just curious, what are you using it for?

i work as a professional female impersonator, and having a taste for doing things differently i have been experimenting with makeup alot lately. one of the things i am considering is going with a whiteface instead of fleshtone. still not sure what i am going to do yet though.
