Now I'm in my own little world, my middle one had her face painted at the ren fest. and she stated they used their finger to put something clear on her skin before painting and the paint dried almost as quick as the painter painted, she didn't have to wait for her art work to dry, or worry about her hair messing it up. Any of you use this stuff and what's it called. I've had a spay on seal for afterwards but I've not seen anything you use before you paint.

well Sue, I dont know about a sealant for underneath the paint, but what mom and I use for over it is Nexcare Sray on bandage. It dries quickly, it's water proof, and it is hypoallergeninc. We don't like to use it on the face however, we mainly do it for if the child wants the painting on a face, arm, or leg or ankle. Plus, you can find it at your local drugstore, grocery store, Walgreens, etc.

I wish I had been there, my two oldest are 19,22, but they said it was kind of thick and clear and they smoothed it on with their finger before painting. Any one else heard of this?

I have (in the past) used barier spray and a final seal. In tests I found that a combination of the two worked okay while either alone was worth little. Your mileage may vary.

I use Ben Nye sealant. I believe you can use it before or after, but it isn't thick. It's a spray-on and smells like peppermint chewing gum. I don't use it on the face because the menthol in it it stings the eyes. I use it on sweltering hot summer days when everyone is sweating. I tested it on myself and slept with designs on my hands overnight and all day the next day and the design looked as fresh as the moment I created it. I use it as a final coat sealant. Too bad you didn't find out what that stuff was. I'm curious...

I put an email into sillyfarm so hopefully they'll send me a response, and I'll share what they have to say.

I know I tried a barrier spray on my own face under my greasepaint......holy cow......it took forever to remove it!
