Hi there...

Are there videoes about how to apply clown make up?? I would very much like to find out - especielly how to do a whiteface/character clown. If such videoes exist, please tell me where I can buy them online...
Also, if someone is interested in sharing, I wouldn't mind a private videorecording of the make up process - I can use anything.

I got a video from Bubba Sikes and I think it is very good. He has a web sight and you can order online and service is very good.

Bubba sikes has an excellent video tape called " You look marvelous darling". You can buy it on his website for about $30.00. Another good makeup video is from FHE home video called " Be a clown". It was made in conjunction with the RBBB Circus folks and was geared toward peaking children's interest in clowning. The makeup section is very good and shows how do do various types of faces. It is out of print now, but you can sometimes find it on Ebay or in local libraries.

It sounds cheesy, and is very much so for the first couple of minutes, but the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey video tape

"be a clown"

released in 1987 from F.H.E.
(family home entertainment)

has a pretty decent detailed step by step explanation from the famous circus whiteface "frosty little" who does a pierrot and his little friend proceeds to do a whiteface grotesque right after,..
I believe the tape also includes a scene with an auguste doing her makeup as well.

Combine this tape (purchasable on ebay for under 10 bucks usually) with strutters complete guide to clown makeup
(aka Strutters guide,.. and published by the same people who put out Creative Clowning aka the clown bible and the one book you absolutely should most definitely get) and you will have a very serious detailed and self explanatory guide and a video demonstration to go along with it.

the Bubba Sikes Video. He's great, he was at a conference I went to and taught a make up class and one of the volunteer was a member of my troupe, we all changed makeup. His auguste is much softer and not so bold and so it's not scary and he has a way of making a white face look more like a porcelain doll.
