Does anyone have a skit using ballet as a topic?? Do you remember the old I Love Lucy show where Lucy was working at the ballet barre and was all hung up all over it?? I'm looking for something similar, but using two clowns.......maybe in a dance class or doing an actual ballet. Any suggetions??

Thanks.........Punkin

Hmmm, No skit, but lots of ideas....

WHite face is the teacher, auguste is the student.Auguste is wearing red flannel long johns (with the flap), and maybe something like Bunny slippers or combat boots.don't forget the sweat band and the leg warmers....

could be that clown two is there for his first day of classes, clown one, a very skilled dancer, teacher starts to put him through his paces. First stretches, then work out at the bar, etc.

Problem is at this point, Ican see it in my mind, but not being a dancer, don't know where to take it from here. Clown gets his feet stuck in the bar, maybe when it comes tme to partner, he uses a coatrack, there could be some good pantomime involved if he is the only dancer, he can be observing the "Other" dancers and make facial expression, about their moves.

I hope this gives you some ideas to work with. And, never be afraid to come up with your own skits!

BTW, Welcome aboard,Punkin!

Hey......Thanks Scruffy for the welcome.........good ideas!! I was working on this skit last night.......I did come up with some neat ideas......being a "childhood dancer" who suddenly discovered the joys of junk food, I'm in no shape to attempt serious dancing........I"m trying to tie my love for dance in with my love for clowning......so I did come up with a few ideas.......just as I was drifting off to sleep......it always happens that way! Now, I've learned to keep a pad and pen next to the bed!!

Looking forward to posting more with you guys!!!

Thanks!!

Hello Punkin,

One of the funniest skits along the lines you are looking for that I can recall was on the ole Gong Show.

A stationary Ballerina positioned at center stage in a classic ballerina pose was being slowly circled by a bearded man wearing thick glasses, a caved-in stove-stack-hat, a raincoat which he clasped with both hands as if he were about to "flash" the Ballerina. This was all happening while the music "My Funny Valentine" was playing.

The act was "gonged" and there was'nt a satisfactory conclusion to the act for me. I always thought at the point where the Ballerina would be "flashed" by the "Flasher" they would start doing the "Hokey-Pokey" or a square dance or something.

Just food for thought...

There is a routine that we have done the last couple of years at Moosecamp using 6 clowns. Tim, did we do the ballerina routine the year you were at Camp? There are three "real" ballerinas that are trying to dance when three rather large male clowns in drag take over the show. If you want to see that routine and numerous others buy the DVD of the "All Star Clown Show" from the last year or two on Mooseburger.com I'm not trying to be a big infomercial, it is just that I am getting ready to leave for camp in 7 days and my brain is wrapped all around it.

Wow.....I posted this a long time ago, but am still looking for ideas.....thanks for the suggestions......and Fitzwilly, I never look upon anything that may be of help to me as an infomercial! I appreciate any feedback I can get from my fellow clowns.....so a big thank you to you!! Have fun at camp and make sure you let us know what happens while you're there!!!!

Yes. That was the first year they did it. I remember Mark Renfro (who directed the gag) casting the three ladies and then asking for three big men to be in the act. After making his selections, he revealed that, "You are going to wear THIS!" and pulled out their dresses to display.

All the clowns were looking forward to the act during the show. We listened from backstage for the reaction (which was wonderful).

I was playing a huffy British clown that night (doing come in before the show) who was looking for my box seat "at the opera". (When people would try to correct me by pointing out that this was the "clown show", I would exclaim, "Pagliacci? I LOOOOVE Pagliacci!") So, knowing what was upcoming later in the show, I kept insisting to them that this was to be a night of great culture in performing arts.

They're even on the cover of the DVD from 2005. Poor guys got the wrong musical track and had to improvise an extra 45 seconds of unrehearsed material to get through the act. They did a great job of that, though.
