She has some great styles that are different from the other costumers. I know of one rather finicky clown that was very satisfied with Barbi's work. glitterbugg 12-03-2008, 03:20 PM how do i look her up bugaboo the clown 12-03-2008, 03:47 PM She did a custom fire fighter costume for my clown character Hoser...great work...great pricing! pixcoco 12-03-2008, 04:19 PM She is great. Very aware of the styling and what you want. Honest and nice woman. Her husband helps her but she is really a one man show. No one to pass the buck to. Her costumes have won top honers for her clients. Her pricing has been going up as demand increased but I think it is still better than some of the others. chatterstheclown 12-03-2008, 05:46 PM Here is her website: Clown costumes by Barbi (http://classicsbybarbi.homestead.com/) I've never used her myself, but have heard good things. Her website doesn't list any prices, though :( Custom costumes can be soooo pricey, and I have a super sweet grandma, (who in my opinion is just as good as anyone out there, but then again I'm probably partial,LOL) that makes my stuff for me. I think that my pink & green dress only cost about $25 to make including the lace, trim and extra details. I really need to get better at my sewing skills. I have been looking around at companies though, because I know that I won't always have my grandma here to do it for me. I was shocked to see how much they can be, especially the dresses, which I've seen for over $500. I really need to practice my sewing skills, so I can do it myself. Vegetus 12-03-2008, 05:49 PM Clown costumes by Barbi (http://classicsbybarbi.homestead.com/) Aside from her doing amazing work, she and her husband (Jim) seem like good people. You get a durable and quality garment from her for certain. Everything is lined and holds up well. I got my first Barbi costume in October and will be getting another this spring for festival season. Punkin 12-04-2008, 06:58 PM Barbie made my Christmas dress.....I'm going to try to post the pictures here. I wear a red crinoline under it......not sure if you can see it in the pictures. I'll have to have one taken of me actually wearing it next week when I do my next Christmas party. Be back in a jif! Punkin Punkin 12-04-2008, 07:06 PM I'm not sure if this is going to work.......but Punkin 12-04-2008, 07:07 PM Ah Ha! There it is.......you can see that the dress is lined from the photo where I'm showing you the crinoline. The bow on the belt is actually supposed to go in the back, but wanted to show you what it looks like. Chatters......I think you asked to see this?? Punkin Perry Noia 12-04-2008, 07:50 PM That's a very pretty dress. chatterstheclown 12-04-2008, 10:31 PM Love it! Thanks for posting. I have actually bought some striped fabric that's similar to that, except the stripes are diagonal to look like a candy cane, very similar though. LOL :) I have been trying to find another fabric to go with it, but never thought of just sticking with one print and solids...it looks nice that way! I have thought of Miss. Elle Tow for my name, not sure if I like the tow or not though (better than TOE I guess,LOL) Also, wasn't sure if that name was already being used by someone else or not. Punkin 12-05-2008, 12:11 AM How about Candy Cane?? Or maybe Miss Alto?? Or Felice Navidad?? Jingle Bells or just Plain Jingles? Figgy Pudding........HMMM I must be getting tired.....Figgy Pudding??? Nighty Night........Punkin Pickles 12-05-2008, 07:54 AM So how do Barbi's costume prices compare with, say, Mooseburger or Betty? Duckie 12-05-2008, 08:16 AM Love it! Thanks for posting. How about "Miss Curly Toes"??? BlossomTheClown 12-05-2008, 09:00 AM Cute costume Punkin! bugaboo the clown 12-05-2008, 10:21 AM Cute outfit! Santa would be proud I'm sure. Here is a pair of pants she made for me. It also came with the fire coat...but in the picture I am not wearing it because it was a 4th of July parade. I would say she the same as Betty on pricing but with the higher custom quality you would expect from Pricilla. Punkin 12-06-2008, 12:36 AM I have some stuff from Pricilla, too......but I think Barbi's are built to last so to speak. Punkin |
