Hello gang.
I just lost my mother (age 89) yesterday (07/12/05) She had a stroke about three weeks ago and was on dialosis. After the stroke she, with a clear mind opted to seperate from the dialasis and die. I was informed at work to come over where she was (here in Vegas), last Thrusday, I came and she was responsive with a few words I could understand. I left my wife there and went home to shower and shave and return, even though I wasn't sure if it was the right thing to, I put on my new clown suit (bright blue, made of scrub pants and a medical top with the sleeves removed and red heart buttons sewed over the snaps and my yellow WILMOE, HEART SHAPED PIN) and brought my dummys (Joe and T.J. I didnt come in with make-up wig or nose.
I didn't really do a "performance" per se but I showed her the suit and the pin and explained what it was (her hearing and sight were somewhat impared-but not gone) and "the boys" talked to her , she saw T.J.s eyes move and his eyebrows go up and down --and laughed and smiled , and my wife and I bid her goodnight and left. The next day she, though aware of everyone and everything, she was non-responsive - yesterday afternoon she diedl
My mom had been a performer (singer) in the Chicago area in her younger days, and I got to perform for her in a small way.
Thanks for "listening"
