View Full Version : Hello and Thank you!
tbear 07-24-2005, 12:47 PM Hi gang!
I am new to clowning and the forum. This forum was a life-saver for me! I have "performed" twice. Both times at my company's client appreciation picnics. Last year, it was very bare bones, but the kids loved it and they asked me to do it again this year. Well, thanks to this website, my recent appearance was very well received. I learned a lot about make-up, got a number of jokes and inexpensive gags from the forum that my audience really enjoyed. The "Brown E's" were a big hit.
Question:
Sometimes when in a large crowd, I would attempt a loud gag, such as holding a stick up and shouting: "Freeze! This is a stick-up!" I felt a little uncomfortable like it really annoyed some of the people in the crowd. I used these loud gags sparingly, but felt much more comfortable with small-group interaction. Any suggestions?
Well, thanks again. I'm hoping to expand my clowning to include birthday parties and events and I know I'll be checking back here a lot to learn more.
Thanks again, everyone!
cianuro 07-24-2005, 12:49 PM Hey tbear, welcome aboard. Im sure youll feel very welcome here and I am sure your advice and suggestions will also be very well recieved by beginners in your situation also.
Keep smiling!
saphireSue 07-24-2005, 04:27 PM tbear glad to have you join us, the more the merrier.
I think the "Stick UP" is funny, but in today's times, it probably scares some people, initally. Some well think it's a hoot, others well....can't please every one.
tbear 07-24-2005, 05:42 PM Good Point, saphiresue... had not thought of that and will keep it in mind.
it is just difficult for me to read people and i feel bad when they don't seem to enjoy my stuff. i think it is just a general clown thing, so I'll try not to take it personally.
Walmoe1 07-29-2005, 11:16 AM With internet problems and all, I haven't had time to respond. All I can say is "You go girl" and about the "stick up" thing if we have to be politically correct (and all other "corrects") all the time-all we could is-stand there, If you used a prop that resembled a gun, maybe that might be inappropriate but a stick-give me a stinkin break.
By the way, you're kinda cute-for a clown. (I tell Saphire Sue that often too)
MAY ALL YOUR DAYS-BE CIRCUS DAYS
Hello sorry it took so long to welcome you
I think the stick up is funny funny funny I will be stealing that from you if you dont mind
AND BY THE WAY YOUR MAKE UP LOOKS AWESOME
Hi and Welcome!
I also apologize for the late welcome. I haven't been on the forum in awhile.
GiGi :D
RedClownFred 07-30-2005, 01:56 AM Hi Tbear! Welcome to the forum! I have an idea for your gag, because I have actually tried this one myself! This may show my age here! I have done the same routine as you, shouting out this is a stick up, but then I pull out an air freshener called "Stick Up", and say sorry we need to clear the air here! Not sure if they still sell this product. Maybe some of our other comrades can pipe in on this?
By the way, I agree with Walmoe's cute comment! We need to keep an eye on him though, he can be a real charmer!
Patch 08-01-2005, 02:03 PM hey Tbear, I to would like to say hi and welcome. I too am new to clowning and all I can say about being scared to mess up is don't worry about it. Your a clown you have a right to mess up, and I was told by a RB&BB clown that when you do mess up make srue they see you do it. It will just make your clowning more real for doing so.
Ps. I'll keep Mr. Wilmoe strait, he's a real good frind of mine and I see him often.
