What kind of license do you need to face paint for profit? I know it probably depends on where you live, but I wouldn't even know what to ask for if I call the city to inquire about it....any suggestions?

Scruffy 01-17-2009, 06:54 PM Go to your county clerks office and register you DBA (Doing Business As...). They will ask for the name of your business, You can then register your name, name of your business and such stuff. From there on, you're a business. Perry Noia 01-17-2009, 07:53 PM Might be different in the US than in Canada, but here you don't need to register as a business unless you make over ... I think it's $30 000/yr ? Otherwise, you claim the income on your taxes but you don't have to charge tax or anything. Artsy 01-17-2009, 07:57 PM Are you referring to a vendor license or a permit license? DBA (doing business as ) is a fictitious name application for the state to register your business name. It does not give you exclusive rights to use that name, unless you incorporate. Insurance is different too. I highly recommend clown insurance. A permit license is different too. You need to check with your local county office. As far as I know (and states vary so this may or may not apply to your area) you usually do not need this unless you are participating in a community event and it is required. A vendor license is similar. They are usually applied PER EVENT. If you need this, they should have a category under Children's Entertainer. Food vendors pay a hefty fee for their licenses and permits because it is governed by the state board of health. Since you are not selling food, you are off the hook, unless of course, you are selling domino pizza or fried rubber chickens. Then you might need a permit. The best thing to do is ask at City Hall, but if you don't have a storefront, they usually don't care - as long as you pay your taxes. |
