I have considered joining Kidabra in the past but haven't yet. I am curious to know what you see as the benefits of being a member.

I lived near a couple of the local chapters. I find them beneficial because it is such a practically, specialized group. Clown alleys can be great but since clowns do so many different things there can be a lack of focus. Magic specific organizations like SAM and IBM are great as well, but the focus is often on the "tricks" and not the "process." At KIDabra! you have performers of all stripes, but the focus is on working pro children's entertainers, so it is a really helpful club, with an emphasis on the "why" of the effects instead of the "how." There's also a focus on business aspect things, developing a character, developing a show. It's a really great family.


As for the annual convention, it's amazing. The lectures are always incredible, the jam sessions are great, it's a wonderful place to get ideas, bounce around ideas, with new friends and pros alike. You'll also go home with tons of new toys. It's a modular design: rather than "learn how to do X, and you'll be able to perform X" it's a conference that generates ideas and methods for you. It teaches you how to fish so you can catch your own food, in other words.

I sure agree. I have been a member now for just a yr. but have gotten so much out of it. I want to go to the convention this yr. Lots of great info. for all
