View Full Version : the new scoop
SCOOP 04-07-2009, 01:15 PM while at the spring fling i got some advice on my make up from fitzwilly and scruffy so i went out today and got my auguste base mkeup and tried it on just as i got finished i thought i was finished scruffy shows up at my door and after looking at me thinks i should put white all the way around my mouth due to an empty space so i posted the pics then i realized i forgot the blackline from my eye to my eyebrow so i took a new pic then i realized i had yet to outline my muzzle so i got rid of all the other pics and took new ones any and all advice good or bad will be read and listened too thank you if i did it right the first pic is my old make up and the 3 new ones are made to show hoe it shows expression
Yes, extended expression is absolutely what I'm perceiving from these new picts. I like where that's heading.
Perry Noia 04-07-2009, 05:44 PM I agree that the white should go all the way around.
Sir Toony Van Dukes 04-07-2009, 06:09 PM You are making good progress. Play around with it a few times. See how small changes look to find out what you like the best. With practice, your lines and edges should be better.
saphireSue 04-07-2009, 09:47 PM looking good, I like the eyebrows.
Pickles 04-07-2009, 11:59 PM I couldn't tell if you painted your lips at all. Have you tried to paint your lips red? Also, I might like to see black eye outlining go down farther.
Lookin' good, Scoop!!
Shouldn't this be the "latest" Scoop?
Chance Marmalade 04-08-2009, 12:26 AM I couldn't tell if you painted your lips at all. Have you tried to paint your lips red? Also, I might like to see black eye outlining go down farther.
Lookin' good, Scoop!!I may have to steal the black eye idea for my new clown. Just that I have a black eye instead of an outlined one...
Pickles 04-08-2009, 08:06 AM I may have to steal the black eye idea for my new clown. Just that I have a black eye instead of an outlined one...
Haha. Okay, it was after midnight. I wasn't making sense. But you KNOW what I was trying to say, right?
SCOOP 04-08-2009, 09:48 AM pickles i think you ment my eyebrow should come down farther if not plese clarify
and my bottom lip is painted black my upper lip is blank
Wowza 04-08-2009, 10:12 AM Scoop,
There's something about the muzzle that's not quite right, in my opinion. My eyes keep getting drawn to your upper lip. I don't really know what it is.
Personally, I'd like to see a more defined eye shape, with more distinct lines and edges, and I think Pickles is right in saying you need to extend the eyeliner on the whole bottom lid.
Just my $.02.
Scoop,

I saw the same thing with getting drawn to the upper lip.
Scooter! 04-08-2009, 12:45 PM Maybe if you just tried a half eye an did the outline farther down it might look better. That way you could play around w/ you r cheeks more. I love the was your eyebrows look. Keep it up!
SCOOP 04-08-2009, 01:33 PM ok tim and wowza it hs been suggested that i go white all around my whole mouth do you think this will solve the problems you to are having being drawn to my upper lip
I think that some sort of makeup on your upper lip is likely necessary. Be that white, flesh, black, or whatever.
Wowza 04-08-2009, 07:32 PM Scoop,
Here's what I came up with. It was quick and rough, but it gives you an idea of what I would do. You are not, of course, required to follow any of this advice. It's just offered in a spirit of friendship and I hope you take it this way.
Keep experimenting. It took several tries for Wowza's face to develop. And, as has already been said, things will definitely click over time.
SCOOP 04-08-2009, 07:39 PM thanks wowza that is what i had pictured in my mind for thee mouth but you mentioned something about my eyes i thought i had a shape kind of a 90% with a rounded third side but if you got any suggestions i am very willing to listen
Sir Toony Van Dukes 04-08-2009, 08:07 PM I think that the white on the upper lip from Wowza's picture makes a nice improvement to the look. It also looks like he took some of the white away from below the eyes. But, play around, take pictures, make funny faces. As long as you have time and aren't going out in public, try a few different effects. As long as you don't powder, you can add/remove the makeup to see how things look.
SCOOP 04-08-2009, 09:32 PM so toony if i am going to play around with the white and red i shouldn't put on the base makeup then so it will be easier to add /remove right just double checking as my dad said the dumbest question is the one not asked
Fitzwilly 04-08-2009, 09:44 PM That would be easier, yes; and then when you did narrow down the options you can try it with the base. You are making progress sir.
SCOOP 04-08-2009, 09:48 PM thank you fitz but my question to you is did i follow your suggestion is what i posted what you had in mind at the fling
Sir Pops-Alot 04-08-2009, 10:04 PM I know Its not traditional or "proper", but maybe instead of painting the top lip white you could try painting on a moustache. I think it would fit with the reporter character and allow you to keep the expressiveness you have in your curent face.
pixcoco 04-09-2009, 09:56 AM I like the eye brows but there may be a bit to much white. I am not seeing a change in your expression in your eyes. See if you can find a place that moves there and accent it.
Until I enlarged the pic I counldn't really see the red cheeks. You can make the red brighter with a different brand or color of red. I also powder my red with red blush to brighten it. Mehron has a nice red. Not the rb red, the one that is just labled red. rb red is more orange/red. red is more of a blue red. I hope that makes sense.
SCOOP 04-09-2009, 11:46 AM the red i thought looked pink after powdering it but afte a while and the pics were took the red did come out more
SCOOP 04-09-2009, 07:12 PM ok here is the newest scoop the clown i thank my many friends and all thier suggestions and wowza for taking them all and making that picture of what i would look like now because it was just practice i didn't powder or base makup like in the other pics of my new face the only suggestion i really didn't use was from knute he said i should have pips what do you all think
saphireSue 04-09-2009, 10:28 PM I like the way you curved the red around the muzzle in the first pic. best
Fitzwilly 04-09-2009, 11:34 PM Looking at all five pictures really shows how different a few changes can make a face look.
The white completely around the mouth has some good points.
I think the red is still to large the way it is. I think it might be more effective for you and your expressions if it was considerably narrower and you added some blush to your cheeks.
There are two other options for your muzzle you might want to try to see if you like. The first would be to split the distance between your nose and your mouth. Have the part under your nose be base and the bottom half be white. The other would be to try the white muzzle the same way you did in the first couple of pictures but make your top lip black as well.
Jusbytheclown 04-10-2009, 12:51 AM Good job!
i keep thinking i'll change my mind, but i keep coming back to the idea of "more tramp"!
i want the neck to recede more. it could be a tan or beard, but i'm seeing lots of human skin from that angle, and i'm seeing 'character' instead of auguste.
i LIKED how the red wrapped around for that reason... sunburned reporter.
the hat could have some wig bits to make it more clowny in general.
Your hair reads just like human hair (and I'm guilty of this lots - i may start with a hat but it often comes off and shows only a certain je ne sais quoi and a tad of gel/ glitter unless it's a special occasion and i color it. the hat could say 'Scoop' instead of 'Press'. (press is funny with a button that does something tho).
also, the same goes for the glasses: "more clowny"
Thanks for sharing your progress!
SCOOP 04-10-2009, 10:16 AM thank you sue it was easier to wrap the red around due to the fact i had a sarting point but everyone wanted to see my muzzle go all the way around and i have to aggree with them just need to work on the red as i am about to discuss with fitzwillys suggestions
fitz i agree with you i need to make the red thinner never thought about using blush will have to get some today and the half and half on the top of my lip sounds interesting. so does anyone have some advice to give me on blush what color is there different colors and how do i apply such a thing my mom and 2 wives never really wore make up so i have nothing to go by funny they both started to after the divorce and seperations lol
jusby you used the term reporter and yet said you see more character then august my character is that of a 1950's tv show or movie reporter and they all had a piece of paper with the word press in thier fedora's so thinks but i wont be changing that, i find it one of the things that makes me unique hope you dont take offense and in the last pic i didn't use a base like i did the first 3 pictures i didn't want to waist it while practicing the white and red that is why you saw skin tone and not a tan again no offense oh and the glasses are prescription and i really can't afford a frame just for clowning and could you give me some more ideas about the hair things i don't see my character having colored hair but i am intriqued
Fitzwilly 04-10-2009, 05:18 PM Scoop, what I do for my blush is to put my little finger in the red color cup. Just enough to lightly touch the paint and then I lightly touch my base, BEFORE powdering, then I use my other fingers to blend the red into the base. A little bit goes a really long way so be careful not to get to much. I put the super small dot right on the apple of my cheek.

SCOOP 04-10-2009, 06:22 PM of course you would reply right after i went out and got some blush lol but i hvn't opened it yet so i can return it by blending am i suppose to end up with a circle of blush. god i must be annoying you with all these little detailed questions!!!!!
Fitzwilly 04-10-2009, 06:59 PM You can try ending with a circle, I don't I kind of blend it up and down, and then side to side across my upper cheek, kind of like I was out in the sun and my cheeks are red. Then on the outer corners of the red I pull it down in a curve that sort of follows my mouth. I have heard people say it looked like a big comma. I keep it very light and blended. I don't mind Scoop. If you lived closer we would get together and hash all this out really quickly.
Tickles and Trouble 04-10-2009, 07:18 PM All this chat of make-up and I I find myself wondering what Fitzwilly really looks like. Not been lucky enough yet to meet but hopefully at mooseburger. Why just the colouring page avitar Fitz?
Tickles
SCOOP 04-10-2009, 08:08 PM there is a picture of fitzwilly in my album for the spring fling he is the last picture
SCOOP 04-10-2009, 10:01 PM well i know i wont get any replies tonight none that i will see anyway i have to get up at 7 got a couple of easter egg hunts my clown troupe is participating in but this is how i am going out hopefully i got all the suggestions right this time if not fire away putting on this much make up in this short period of time has kept me very clowny and in a good mood i thought i would be frustrated with it all but i like seeing the subtle differences fitz i hope you can see the blush in the pic i didn't go for a circle i kind of took the red paint and circled it away from my nose. thank everyone for your sugestions so far.
saphireSue 04-10-2009, 10:05 PM I like it, looks good.
Scruffy 04-11-2009, 05:11 AM Looks good scoop. I hope your rested up for this!
I think this latest look is REALLY solid, Scoop!
The only thing I'd do from here is play around with how you can make your eyes pop a little bit more. Maybe "live eye" (eyeliner under your eye) or mascara?
SCOOP 04-11-2009, 03:04 PM i did put masscare on but as it was my first time using it i dont know how much to use

Tickles
Well, I forget about the sizing and everything to change avatars so I just leave the one I put up a couple of years ago.
I will see about finding a newer real picture and posting that one.
Fitzwilly 04-11-2009, 11:52 PM You have made great strides in your makeup Scoop. From here on out I think your improvements will come at a slower rate, simply because you have started nailing down a face that works for you. Congratulations.
SCOOP 04-12-2009, 12:05 AM thank you fitzwilly
Tickles and Trouble 04-12-2009, 05:19 PM Way to go Tim
I have been thinking for a while that you boy clowns should do mascara. It really brings your eyes out especially if you wear white around the eye. Small eyes I always think look a little unfriendly, open them up for a happier face.
Tickles and Trouble 04-12-2009, 05:24 PM Oh and Fitz, I think your avitar is cute as it is.
I'm now thinking about my face seriously though haven't before. How I do Tickles has always been instinct so don't want to over analyize(sp) but is there room for improvement....always!

But the thing is that it's difficult to find any teenage girls who want to sit around and practice putting on mascara with a boy clown (seeing as how we are at about similar levels of experience and experimentation with such stuff and could seriously use their assistance.)
