Oh yeah, I'm also an experienced unicyclist. :P GiGi 10-11-2005, 11:20 AM Welcome! I bought a unicycle about 6 months ago and after a pretty good fall and not walking quite right for about a month, I'm a little scared to get back on it. GiGi :) Sassafras 10-11-2005, 11:46 AM Welcome, Flekin! :) ashes 10-11-2005, 04:07 PM Welcome! Glad that you dropped in. I don't do either mime or unicycle, but I respect that they are both difficult skills to master! Feel free to share your expertise with us! Ashes saphireSue 10-11-2005, 04:28 PM Welcome, glad to have you. twaml 10-11-2005, 10:45 PM Hello and pardon me for maybe overstepping my bounds, as I'm not a clown in any fashion and in fact run a tongue-in-cheek anti-mime site and am mod for an anti-clown forum, but: Why Mime? For you in particular? Why not clowning, what do you see as the difference? Why no speaking, why do mimes look like they do now? I know it used to be because they were on stage and the contrast helped people who were further away to see what was going on, including the exaggerated facial expressions, but is this continued just for tradition or does it still have a practical purpose? Why a unicycle? How, if at all, does that fit in with any 'theme' you might have? Do you actually prefer not to speak or is it a difficult challenge of self-discipline, never slipping and saying something? Do you have any ideas why Mimes DON'T say anything? What do you think of people scared of Mimes and Clowns? And lastly, and I'm not trying to be insulting but asking a sincere question: Do you realize a lot of people think Mimes are extremely annoying, probably moreso than clowns? What is your reaction to this? Do you 'push yourself' on people you can tell are agitated or even irritated or do you give people space if it looks like they are either exceptionally annoyed or possibly angry? With your permission, may I please post your answers (and anyone else that wants to answer) on my website (as is, no twisting it around)? Thank you. tim 10-11-2005, 11:55 PM Mime is misunderstood, I think. But it can be very helpful in communicating and clown. I should learn some mime, myself, as the movement would help me to become a better clown. Scruffy 10-12-2005, 04:35 AM Welcome Fleckinmime! ....I tried anicyle once. I was up for alomst a complete nanosecond before I went over side ways on the critter..... I admire anyone crazy enough to get on one and envy all who can do it! Welcome! BTW, The movie Shakes the Clown gave both sides a bad rap. We clowns don't really hate Mimes. Pantomime is a skill we all strive to learn. Walmoe1 10-14-2005, 06:36 PM Hi there Fleck: Come in-the water's fine. Remember-a mime is a terrible thing to waste (Robin Hood-Men in Tights by Mel Brooks). |
