Hi Clowns,

Allow me to introduce myself - I am Nosey T. Clown! What does the 'T' stand for, you ask? Why, "The", of course! Silly! I guess that's why I'm an auguste!

I'm not sure if I am a baby clown or what. Between 1980 and about 1992 I clowned for fun about once or twice a month (I helped found an alley in Virginia, helped with the teaching, lots of parades and shows, stuff like that). I never did it as a job, 'cause my alter ego has one that pays the bills. My inner child just comes out as a clown.

Well, now I'm gonna put the shoes on again. I'm going to either La Crosse or Mooseburger this year to refresh my skills and find a new 'face' (I never did like the old one I had, and now's a good time to start over). I can't weight, er, wait.

But I'm having a heck of a time finding an alley in my neighborhood (Lake County, Illinois). I've checked all the common sites - COAI, WCA, ICHoF, etc. and can't find anything. Anyone have any ideas? Speak up!

Welcome, Nosey!

Well, you just joined the BEST clown alley you could ask for
here on the internet!

I'm sure that all the clowning that you did will come back to
you - like falling off a bike!

You'll love the Mooseburger camp if you go (I've been to
two of their "on the road" camps that came close to me here.)

I'm sure the other camp is just fine also, but I don't have any
experience with them.

Feel free to ask away with your questions, and we'll get them
answered for you!

Hey Nosey! I'm in Chicago. Just starting out myself, so I'm not as well connected as I ought to be. But I do know some local clowns and think I have some contact info for the local COAI people around somewhere.

Welcome Nosey!
I too have a similar rtory. and to make it short I will tell you at least in my experience. I was a better clown twenty tears after I stopped. don't know if it was because I still kept up with it and learned jokes or what, but it will all come back and you will be funnier!
Good luck and ask all the questions that you want!

Wow! I love the look!

Despite the time away, I think it's safe to say that you didn't forget how to be a clown.

keep looking for an alley, I guess when all else fails You'll just have to start one
Cheers

Really nice, Nosey!

I'm with Scruffy here -- keep looking for an alley or start one.
Of course, the Clown-Forum is a virtual alley and you can find
a lot of support and ideas here.

Nosey,

Wow, awesome look!

BTW, I recently found out about the Metropolitan Clown Guild. They meet the first Wednesday of each month in Northlake. I haven't been to one of their gatherings yet, but did receive a sample newsletter and have talked with a couple of their members. Seems to be a pretty good group for Chicagoland clowns, with a signifigant membership.
