I need some quick & easy ideas for a parade. I have been told that our theme is "Clowns Having Sun Fun." All I know is that some of the clowns are wearing animal flotation devices and carrying plastic pails and shovels.

I took a large umberella and took the fabric off. Tied ribbons and small stuffed sea animals hanging from it so they hung down around me. Then I took foam and cut out a giant letter C and out it on top of the umberella point. Under the C

I tried to put a pic of it but I can't seem to get that working for me. I can e-mail it if you want.

sorry not much, but old fashion loud type swim suit, carring a large doll with a fin attached to it, so you can swim with the Doll- fins.

I just picked up the July/August issue of "The New Calliope" and laughed when I saw a swimming suit-clad clown on the cover. I don't have a clown swim suit, but I DO have an old pair of striped cotton Hanna Andersson longjohns. Do you think it would work if I cut the legs and arms off of the longjohns and wore them as a swim suit? Sure would be more comfy than layers of clown clothes.

I'm sure that would work. Do you have a sewing machine or serger. I would think you would want to cut out the sleeves too to make like a tank top? Here's the perfect vintage striped tank top on ebay if your looking? colors might not match though I just though it was cute with the stripes up and down in that color. well isn't that kinda what the male bathing suit looked like back then? I don't see why it wouldn't work. Walking with flippers would be to difficult, but what about attaching them to the top of some tennis shoes so you kinda look like you're wearing them. End of summer could prob. get some cheap now.

You could also go in black bloomers, a poofy black short sleeved ladies type blouse and one of those sleep cap style hats. It might get hot in black though. Are you going to wear tights underneith?

it would probably look rather strange if she wore them over the rest rather than underneath. :D

If you're all in black, wear a witches hat. If someone asks, you can be a <ahem...ready for this? It's GOOD...okay, here we go> SAND WITCH. Ain't I the greatest?!? (The answer is "YES.") :D :D

OOOH....you could "fly" on a long sand shovel rather than a broom. And put a couple of bolo ties on your knees, and suddenly your a bolo-knee sand wich.

O.K. ( taking on my haughty persona) Some people confuse tights with a leotard. (Of course not ones so well versed in the ENGLISH language as present company).

Well, I live in America, so I don't speak English (as the British can attest.) I speak Texan-American. Texerican? Besides, how can I confuse tights with a leotard? I can understand confusing cheetahs with leotards, but clothing with cats?

And how do you make them?

Sheesh, Pickles...didn't you read the post? She makes them "easily." (Granted, I changed the word from an adjective to a pronoun, but the main thought is there.) I make a sandwich by putting something between two slices of bread. Watermelons I don't actually make...I buy from them from grocery stores.

<OUCH OUCH OUCH!!!! I FELT that!>

Good, cause I only have the kitchen towel variety and it just doesn't pack the punch.
Thanks,
Sara

Step on his floppy shoes! Smack his clown nose! Sorry, Dusty, got carried away. Pickles and sara's fault!

I'm beginning to rethink my ambition to attend Mooseburger Camp. If you ever get wind that I'll be there, I'm afraid you'll go too, just so you can throttle me in person. :) I'd really hate to have to explain that I got beat up by Pickles at camp...hmmm...maybe I could call it a severe Pickles allergy...

Cucumber variety? I guess that is why there are all the lumps and bumps? Kitchen towel chickens just make cross hatch patterns.

So the parade ended up being really fun. My daughter and I made the clown swim suits out of old striped long johns. I was a little worried that we'd freeze, because it was cool and rainy. But a few minutes before the parade started, the sky cleared up and the temperature spiked, so it was great not wearing the usual layers upon layers of clown clothes.

I carried swim noodles and a rubber chicken and was peddling "Chicken & Noodles." We also performed UNsynchronized Swimming" throughout the parade, with me conducting it with my swim noodles.

Check out my Facebook Album for pics. Thanks for all your suggestions.

Darling pictures Pickles. That one of your daughter is so cute. Love the yellow wig, but I'm partial to yellow wigs. She is a doll.

Here are some prop Ideas for you. The old ball and string tied to the top of an umbrella so it rolls around the rim and you can bounce it up and down looking very skilled and occasionally exposing it. People play cards on the beach,an electric deck again choosing to expose it when you want.
Also I never tried this but a small beach ball with a waltzing Matilda gimmick on it. You might need something stronger though and you can act like you're chasing it around. Again if you expose it.......Hey your'e a clown right.
