In the past couple of days that I have belonged to this brilliant forum, I have come upon fellow clowns and other people that ask me why I choose not to be a clown.

Now see, there are a few reasons for that, but let's get back to the introduction.

Someone asked me why I wasn't a clown

Then someone asked me if I hated clowns.

Okay 1) There is no possible way that I would come to a clown forum if I hated clowns. Why would I go through all the trouble of saying how much I love clowns and conversing with them, if I hate them? That's just totally and utterly ridiculous!

I'm not a spy for that stupid site ihateclowns.com. I don't say I love clowns then curse about them the next minute. I LOVE THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE AWESOME!

Well now to answer everyone's question of why I am not a clown.

See I am merely a lady with very few talents. All I have is my art, writing, and theatre. I have no extremely funny jokes that I can come up with on the spot. I have to think long and hard for them to pop up in my head. I have no silly tricks or balloon skills. I have no money for makeup or costumes or instruments. I just have no talent to be a clown. I wish I did. Oh how I wish I did, but I am afraid I don't.

Then people ask me why I come here if I am not a clown.

Well I have always wanted to meet a clown personally. You know get to know what goes on inside their head. Learn more about the clowning business and life.

I've always been intrigued by clowns. Their happy nature and farce humor always brought me somewhat of a delight. I love to see them in action as they speedily twist up little balloons and recite humorous poems of nonsense. I love the way that they have the best senses of humor in the world that I have ever come by. I know they are very intelligent people and can bring me even more knowledge about what goes on in the world.

I didn't even know there was a funny clown army to bring peace and excitement into the world.

I always love finding new friends and conversing with new people period. Clown or not. I just find myself to come by a certain people that I have the same interests in: humor, silliness, jokes and poems full of nonsense, and colorful faces!

Are all your questions answered?

I'm certainly thankful that you've joined us and hope you'll stick around.

Darcy...
If you are good in art you would find it not hard at all to apply makeup and you can get clown makeup fairly cheap and it lasts forever..and if you dont wanna be a clown, you said you are good at art, so put some bright clothes on and do face painting! Alot of people just hire clowns or people to do face painting or balloons and as far as talent goes...we all started at the bottom...it takes hours upon hours of practice to learn to make balloon animals and do magic tricks etc..and being a clown you can get away with it not being the best or not turning out right...we all do things and just learn as we go..listen to other clowns and go to some classes when available...for the price of just a cup of coffee a day you could afford to buy some supplies or clown makeup in just a week or two...good luck and read all you can...especailly here ...I have confidence in you that by reading all you can here and hanging out that you will overcome your selfworthlessness feeling of not being able to do anything or having any talent! Everyone has talent...we just have to develop it..alot harder said then done alot of times! Keep your chin up and read and smile alot and just keep sharing your love with others..and you can become known as the caring clown whether in costume or not! Have a greeeat weekend!

Darcy,

Clowning is a performance art above all else. So if you have experience in the theater you're ahead of a lot of clowns! Balloons and magic are skills that come with practice, but aren't necssary. Go where your heart tells you.... ; )

As an administrator of this here Forum, am pleased to announce, after great discussion with my fellow administrators, that we hereby dub thee Darcy an honorary clown with full rights to pie and be pied by your fellow clowns. From this day forward may your nose be a little redder, you feet a little bigger, and may your heart and your funny bone work together as one.

It is my pleasure to announce to the world of clowning at large, our newest family member, Miss Darcy.

It isn't always easy to be a clown and clowning isn't for everyone. As far as I am concerned, anyone who wants to participate in the forum in a positive way is welcome.

I watch other clowns perform and see how natural it looks for them. But, I know that all came with years of practice. Many of the clowns and magicians that I know have found the jokes and patter that works for them and use it over and over and over. But, when they say something, it fits the situation and sounds like something they are saying for the first time and not a scripted line from a play.

If you want help discovering your inner clown, I am sure the members here are willing to help, if you just want to have fun and join in the conversations, that is cool too.

Darcy, I think I am still a clown wannabe, but I think I've almost made the leap to being a real clown. I don't see why anyone has to be a real clown to be here as long as they enjoy the spirit! :applause:

Darcy ... Whether you are a clown or just a clown supporter... you most certainly will be warmly welcomed here!

Believe it or not ... you don't have to be a clown to use the skills that we use in our clowning. I see that you have an interest in art and theatre. I have a pretty strong theatre background. I have been given roles because of the performance skills I have attained through my clowning. Through being expressive, having stage presence, poise, a sense of timing, and being able to do character work, just to name a few. These too can work for you and anyone else in the theatre/entertainment world... even if they don't slap on red noses, silly wigs, or grease paint.

Also people skills that we use when clowning can be used in a multitude of capacities. One on one, in the work place, etc.

I congratulate you for making the choice to join the forum. Welcome friend.

- Chris

Hi Darcy. We have not yet met but I am not a clown. I am a comedy magician, musician, balloon twisting, puppeteer. I hang out with more clowns than I do magicians. I'd rather, clowns are fun in real life too.

u have art any u write. well guess what we, ( or least me) needs skits, plays, one or two liners to use in clowning, either in secular or christian clowning. i. have written several skits and 1 - 10 liners for christian and fire education but have not had them published. A saying that is used at the church that i attend is " god doesn't call the equipped he equips the called."

I for one am happy to have you as a part of our little (big) family!
I see clowning as an art form, and as we all know there are many, many different forms of art. I think it is wonderfull that you have your writing, art work and theater. And I think we can combine all different arts and views.
Maybe we can enlighten you on balloon twisting, and you can teach us about painting (on cavas, instead of on our faces).
Any who, so glad to have you......stick around and enjoy the ride!:)

This is exactly what I think when I read post after post by people who like to call themselves clowns but never once display the slightest interest in injecting any humour into what they write. People who you suspect the abitity to even consider being funny is beyond them. There are a great many of these types on this forum.

I agree the world needs lots more like you Darcy, You are a clown from the heart and that goes way beyond talent or make-up. Your talents are many you might even think of putting together some of your thoughts or even some of the funny things like jokes, or stories, skits, what ever and put them in a book, I think I am safe to say that as clowns we seek inspiration from everyone we can and just because you don't have quick humor on the spot I can tell you do know what humor is and I bet are very good at it when you put your mind to it. Just something to put in your thinking hat and let mull around a bit. Bottom line.......we love bumping noses with you and are proud to have you as a sister clown...:0)

Okay, I admit most of my inspiration is immitation (what can I say? It's funny to mirror people!) But I still agree! :D

Heck, I'm my funniest when I'm NOT trying. Just remember, there's more than one type of clown, including the type who don't call themselves clown. It's about a kind and generous soul and a heart full of laughter. I definitely wouldn't want to push anybody who doesn't want to clown into clowning. I'm just glad you're here and you're you. :pie:
