I'm an ice skating fan so I was bummed to hear Michelle Kwan had dropped out of the competition, but I can understand her reasons. Her health and the medal hopes of Team USA had to come first, but it had to be hard to give up what would probably be her last shot at the gold.

So which events have you glued to the TV? :)

I like figure skating, but I don't watch much, and really only like to watch sports if I can be there in person, don't care to see it on TV. But I hope the US wins a lot of gold.

I'm heavily in training for my event -- the men's downhill escalator.

Note to self: never visit this web site while drinking hot tea... one of these days I'll ruin my keyboard when it comes out of my nose as I laugh...

Did anyone else watch the closing ceremonies? A large band of clowns played, and the athletes were given red noses to wear as they marched in. (I only saw a few actually wearing them on their noses; most had it perched on top of their heads.)

And the announcer mentioned the Italians invented confetti; you learn something new every day.

Didn't even watch them, but if I knew about the clown ending I would have tuned in...DARN!!! I did hear that one of our male skaters threw some kind of tizzy fit, and felt his should have been driven around in a limo! Another reason why I say:

WE NEED TO KEEP ATHLETES AND THEIR ACOMPLISHMENTS HELD IN PERSPECTIVE TO WHAT IS REALLY IMPORTANT IN THE WORLD! ACTORS AND ATHLETES ARE PUT ON TOO HIGH OF A PEDESTAL IN RELATION TO AREAS OUTSIDE THEIR REALM! THEY ARE PERFORMNG A JOB OR FUNCTION LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!

That is probably why I do not watch as much as I used to! God Bless!

I hadn't heard about any of the skaters wanting to be chauffeured around in limo, but I'm willing to bet that was Johnny Weir. Yep, he's quite the prima donna. A beautiful skater to be sure, but I don't know how he can get away with some of his behavior; very unprofessional.
