View Full Version : This may sound like a weird question....

but does anyone know where I could find some information on the ecological friendliness of face paints? In particular, I am using Snazaroo and I'm doing a grand opening event for a store that sells eco friendly stuff (soaps, house paints, cleaners, reusable containers, etc.).... I'm thinking I might get some questions that I won't have answers to.

I already printed out a little about the eco-friendliness of latex balloons and I have an ingredient list for Snazaroo, but I can't seem to find much other than the fact that a lot of the ingredients are synthetically made... that's not inherently bad necessarily, but I'd like a little more info.

Can you contact Snazaroo's Customer Affairs Dept? I bet they can give you the info you need.

Just get ahold of the company and ask for a msds sheet....companies have to have those for anything they sell that has any chemicals in it whatso ever...its an osha thing....
If they balk....tell them you need it for a client....that needs it for thier insurance ro something like that...they really should comply..with your wishes...if they say there is nothing in it that can harm anyone.. Then push the issue for a written letter on their letterhead.. I guarantee they will do something then..companies do not want osha sniffing around

The MSDS is available on the website... that says if things are harmful to people... not if they are at all harmful to the environment. I don't absolutely need this, it's something I want to be prepared with for this event as the people who shop specifically for biodegradable cleaners and soaps are people who want to be informed about this stuff. I want to impress by being prepared.

Tell them you want to make sure it's safe, so you hope it was tested on animals.

(JOKING! Just joking!)

Ok, so here's the "official" answer on it from Snazaroo:

"The paints are Eco friendly."

well, that should stop those enviro-nuts dead in their tracks! Thanks sooooo much! :???:

Wow! Such a detailed answer..I hope you can memorize all those facts, figures and statistics. Now I bet you're quite happy you asked. :)

Truthfully, tho, if THAT'S all their willing to say, suddenly i'd be leary of using them. They need to back up their claims with facts. Just saying "We're ECO friendly" is a lot like a certain clown school administrator saying "I'm world famous."

I know that they are completely safe for use on skin and with kids, etc etc... but even if some of their ingredients aren't all that friendly, they could at least give me a sugar coated, "we are very responsible in our manufacturing techniques" or something.... it sounds to me more like an "I'm too important to be bothered with silly stuff like that." Of course the two or three times that I have asked a question of that company, they've always given me a brush off answer... I think it's more an issue of their representative voice in North America than a problem inherent of the company itself.

Oh well, I guess the ingredient list will have to do... I was hoping to be able to wow some parents with my preparedness for their eco-savvy questions.
