I see several people recommending caboots.com. I have two questions:

1. I often go up and down very steep stairs. Are oversized shows like these an invitation to disaster?

2. I do not see a size chart or anything on the caboots website. Hpw do they attach to your feet?

Thanks in advance!

Well, I'll field this one since I own a pair.

Smacky, I 've never had a problem walking or going upstairs with them on. They are a true pair of shoes And are a one size fits all type. I do wear a thick pair of hunting socks with mine, just for extra cushion. They "work" by grabbing around your heel pretty well.
I've been very happy with mine. They can be resoled and I added a pair of "Taps" or heel plates to help extend the life of the heels.

Im no expert, but from what little ive seen and what ive heard everyone else say:
With these shoes alot of times it is a "you get what you pay for "deal. if you buy cheap shoes they wont last and they WILL be uncomfortable.
go ahead and spend that extra money and get a nice pair.

the "cheap" ones i just bout to try them out, are very uncomfortable, and i can already see where the laces are pulling thru the fabric. Ive only worn them about 8 hours total

Very true, Timmy.
I've been very happy with my Caboots. They are leather. I believe at the time I paid around 175.00 with shipping.
I've had mine for almost two years now; No problems. I can't say that they will be the last pair of shoes that I buy, But I do reccommend them I have seen the multi striped ones and the red ones in person. (These are the ones that often show up on Ebay) They are not the quality of shoe that mine are.
I would not reccommend the Vinyl ones AT ALL. Sassy bought a pair anthey did'nt even last one event. No support, the eyelets ripped out. Just terrible things.

the ones that are made to actually fit you feet on the inside, feel better than shoes to big that you have to stuff. I forget I'm wearing mine.

Thanks!

Right now I am wearing a pair of red converse that I have decorated with foam flowers. They look all right.

I hate to spend that kind of money. I feel like I am not a good enough clown to warrant three-hundred dollar shoes. Of coure, depending on who you ask I might not be good enough to warrant converse either....

I just bought a pair of shoes on Ebay. The seller was Benny and Friends Clown Shoes. They have quite a selection and they are all leather. I was a bit leary of buying without actually seeing them with my own two eyes, other than in the picture, but they are fabulous. They are supposed to be Converse but clown size. They are pink and purple to match my outfit. They are very well made and very comfortable. They cost me $195 including shipping. Learning to walk in them will be a whole different story! And I didn't even think about driving in them!

The big expensive clown are probably something I may never invest in. I find the regular Converse suit my needs just fine. I have red ones that have rainbow ties, and I am hoping to add a 2nd pair of another color so that I can wear one foot one color, and the other foot a different color.

If you're thinking of getting Converse shoes, you might be interested to know you can get them customized in 21 different colors and 6 patterns.

more information about Converse One (http://www.customize-your-life.com/links/detail/984)

(That directory of links to customized products is another site I'm working on, btw) :)

$300 is alot of money to spend but you get a very good quality shoe that will feel good and last Converse are a great alternative they come in so many colors and sizes they are great but if you are looking for a traditional style clown shoe you will have to spend some mony there are lots of cheap shoes out there that are not worth it at all Converse are a great comfertable shoe that are cheap and also look good but remember its not the costume or shoes that make you a good clown hardwork practice and desire that make a good clown

That was the style back in the mid 80's Punky Brewster (if any one remembers that show) wore two differnt color converse all stars and every cool kid in my first grade class did the same :D

Back in my day, Paw made us wear the shoe boxes out first. That way the shoes lasted even longer!

I am just now after 4 yrs. of clowning getting ready to shell out the big bucks for some 300-350 range shoes. For what it's worth I've always worn my REAL size converse shoes inside of a pair of size 20 Nike Air high tops I got for 5.99 at a sporting goods store going out of bizness. And people love em, I always get comments on them. And they're pretty easy to maneuver in. Chowfernow

Even though your Nikes are working well you will sure notice the difference when you get the real deal. I was amazed when I got mine.
