Hi,
just was wondering if anyone collects Clowns? It doesn't matter if it is pictures of clowns or clown dolls or books of clowns. I just am interested in seeing who collects what?

I do have a collection of clown stuff. Well, I didn't really start collecting them intentionally. Friends and family see little clown things here and there and get them for me. I have all sorts of stuff: Crystal clown shoes, stuffed animals, dolls, clown paintings, books, beanie babies, posters, mugs, T-shirts, etc. I really am running out of room for it all. Between all of my stuff (costumes, props, etc.) and the things I've collected; I need to add on a room.

I collect clown dolls, little clown statues, plates with clowns on them. Really anything that has to do with Clowns.

I don't really collect clowns, but I have a few clowns from Cirque d' Soliel and the like. Also, funny story: when I was a little girl I was fascinated by my elderly next-door neighbor's clown music box. (She collected clowns because her late husband had been one.) I would wind it up and watch it revolve for long periods of time. When I made my First Communion, my neighbor offered me a choice of gifts: a music box like hers, or a real silver cross necklace. My young little brain told me I should choose the cross, but I wanted that clown more! So I blurted out that I would like the music box, please, and my elderly neighbor's face fell. She actually gave me both on the day I made my First Communion, but I know she was disappointed that I chose a clown over the cross. Sorry God.

I collect some circus oriented stuff and books on clowns to some extent.

Then there are the 21 real live clowns I have in my closet. Think I should let them out for air? :-P

My uncle collects ceramic clowns. It was suggested last time I was at his house, that perhaps they ought to put me up on the shelf with the rest of the clowns.

That is really cool. I got into clowning because I was afraid of clowns when i was a child. So I do clowning to show children that clowns are not scary.

I am in the process of looking for Clowns on stamps to collect. If anyone sees any let me know.
thanks

Ditto!! When friends & family find out what your hobby is guess what you get for every Christmas & B-day because they don't know what else to get you! That is how I ended up with 75 coffee mugs & dozens of clowns. Ugh... I am down to about 6 mugs, couldn't even give those away at yard sales & then I have had to "widdle" down my clown collection to the ones I love the most. I just ran out of room & got tired of dusting them. I couldn't bare to see my precious clowns stuck in a yard sale so I did find a good home for them. A local home for abused children actually came to pick up a box of them from me. The lady who came was in tears, she said, we have had this 1 room that we have not decorated and didn't have the funds to do that. Now we will have a clown room! I started to cry! The box was full of pictures, dolls, figurines, etc. What a blessing a recieved! By the way, it's a nice tax deduction as well!

No Willace, I have not gotten to see the clown room. I wish I could. I would love to even help decorate it, but the organization has to remain private due to the nature of the abused & abandoned children. They don't have an address published anywhere, just a PO box & no signs to even flag where the building is. That is why a staff member was sent to pick up the stuff from me. I was glad & happy to bring it to them, but they would not let me. I was kind of worried that it was not a legitimate organization, but to my surprise they sent me a tax reciept in the mail & then I got a news letter about a month later & they has publised my name as a doner & thanked me publically along with other news & activities & donors for the "childrens home". It was really rewarding & warmed my heart. I never expected that! It will make it easier to part with more clowns in the future.

I do woodburning. I wonder if there is a market for me to do clown pictures in woodburning?

Dartel (I hope my clown name finds me before it gets too lonely)

Psst, Dartel, we have an article about picking out a clown name (http://www.clown-forum.com/Clowning_Tutorials/p2_articleid/12) if you need some ideas. But don't sweat it, it will come to you :)
