I am a newbie. Still working (preparing, long prep) for the first party.... At the end of March I went to the convention in Laughlin not knowing what to expect. I am so glad I did... It was a joy to see other folks like me out there, happy go lucky attitudes, silly, joke-sters and very friendly... It was a honor to meet so many experienced clowns and learn from them. I would like to say thank you to everyone that helped me and took me under your wing. I signed up for a make-up/costume competition it was great to get pointers from the pros. It was comforting to know even people that have clowned for 20 years still get nervous at competitions.
For other newcomers like me.... I am finding it so educational to go to these clowning events, it is surely worth every penny spent to learn from the pros... I twisted my first balloon animal at balloon camp (previously a balloon decorator only) in Las Vegas last year and have been on a clowning buzz ever since. I was lucky enough to attend the Mooseberger Great Adventure in Jan. Wow what a neat lady, impressive. And now the WCA convention.
The only pointers I am able to give, is...... get plenty of sleep before you go you will be jamming to wee hours in the morning and having lots of fun, meet everyone you possibly can and have a blast you won't regret one minute of it.... I have lots of great memorys to last a life time, and I am just beginning.
To all the clowns that have open their arms and hearts and let me in I just want to say thank you.... You all gave me confidence and pride to know this new adventure is going to be a fun one. And I hope I get to see you again at a future event... Next event for me will be the Western Region Clown Association in Laughlin in November, everyone said it is a great event to attend....so at least I have a few months to rest up for this one. <:0) thanks again
