Digital Badge

Anyone here use the digital badge that mbd offers? Thinking of picking one up for some of my restaurant and strolling gigs that I do "out of clown."

I'd read somewhere that a twister was able to program a scrolling menu of sorts of balloons he was offering and liked the idea.

$30-40 is a nice chunk though for a badge, and would love to get some "I have it" reviews before I place the order.

I have one that I bought on ebay. It was a cheap one and only cost about $10, including shipping. It was cute, but pretty hard to program. It looked exactly like my friend's and she paid $65 for hers, although I never see her wearing it anymore, I don't know why.

I think the more expensive ones would be a lot better ... I don't know. I wanted to try this without the high price tag. I got a thrill out of it a few times, but ended up pitching it.

I would also like to hear feedback on the higher dollar ones ...

I have tried a couple simple ones. I have know idea what they would retail for. The ones I used were samples from manufactures for trial purposes. For one thing the price has dropped considerably in the last couple of years bcause of technology improvements and the ability of the badges have gone up. I have not used one of the badges that you program on your computer, just the ones you program using the buttons on the back of the unit. I was always playing with the speed, trying to find a good comprimise between being slow enough for most people to read and yet fast enough that you are waiting around for people t0 finish reading your message. The ones I tried used a rather large flat battery that lasted well if used for shorter periods of time (less than an hour or so at a stretch) but if used continuously would onlt last about 4 hours, maybe a little more.

ThinkGeek.com has better prices and a better variety of digital badges, I believe. Try that.
