Tip hat Instructions - Frankenstein Electrode Hat

Instructions for the

"New Year’s Hat With A Twist!"
By Stretch The Balloon Dude Celebrate the New Year with a new attention-getting party hat that will top off the event! Made with non-round balloons, that hat is lightweight, is held securely in place and is a true attention getter.
For This Sculpture You Will Need:1 - Crystal Clear 2602 - Fashion White 260s1 - Deluxe Key Lime 2601 - Fashion Blue 2601 - Fashion Yellow 260 Instructions:
1. Inflate the Fashion Blue leaving about 1/2 inch tail and then make a basic helmet.2. Twist about a 4 finger bubble on each side of the top piece.
3. Inflate the Fashion Yellow completely and then deflate it. Wrap it around your finger or similarly sized object and re-inflate it into a spiral.
4. Twist a small bubble at the nozzle end and make it into a pinch twist.
5. Lock the pinch twist onto the hat at one of the twisted spots on the top piece of the helmet.
6. Repeat steps 3 thru 5 with the Deluxe Key Lime to make another spiral and attach it to the other twisted spot on the top piece of the helmet. I generally wrap this one the opposite direction on my
finger to make it spiral the opposite direction of the first spiral.
7. Use one of the Fashion White 260s to make a zero. Start by inflating it leaving a 4 inch tail and then making a 4 finger bubble at the nozzle end.
8. Follow that with an 8 finger bubble, a pinch twist, another 4 finger bubble, a pinch twist, another 8 finger bubble and then a final pinch twist. Complete the zero by twisting the nozzle around the last pinch twist, but don’t remove the excess balloon yet.
9. Twist a 2 finger bubble on the remaining length of balloon followed by 2 pinch twists. Remove the excess balloon and secure the loose end.
10. Inflate the second White 260 leaving about 5 inches un-inflated. Make an eight by twisting a series of six 4 finger bubbles each separated by a pinch twist. Connect the end of the 6th bubble into the second pinch twist indicated by
the letter “A” in the attached photo.
11. Make another 4 finger bubble and connect it to the 3rd bubble indicated by the letter “B” in the attached photo. You will have 2 bubbles going between pinch twist “A” and “B.”
12. Make another 4 finger bubble followed by a pinch twist and then twist the nozzle of the balloon into this last pinch twist to complete your eight.
13. You should have just enough balloon to make a 2 finger bubble and a small bubble on the end.
14. Twist a small bubble on the end of each spiral and attach the zero to one and the eight to the other using the pinch twists on the bottom of the zero and the small bubble on the bottom of the eight. Inflate the Crystal Clear and use it to put a bubble between the base of the zero and the eight as shown in the photo to stabilize the top of the hat.
15. If you use this hat for years other than those ending in “08” you will have to make different numbers to go on the top. Wendell Clendennen, a.k.a. Stretch the Balloon Dude, has been twisting tubes of latex into fun and zany shapes since 1989. Since then he has developed a unique style that combines a slightly twisted view of life with an eye for detail. Stretch has taught at conventions and seminars across the US, including being the featured lecturer for T Jam on the Road 2006 and repeat appearances at Summer Balloon Camp and Twist and Shout. Together, Stretch and Mrs. Stretch host G.O.T. Balloons, the monthly balloon jam in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas that has been meeting regularly since April of 2003. www.stretchc.com
