Thanks for all the great suggestions! I seriously liked some of them... and as much as I think Chappy was kiddin, I had considered using some animal innards from the local butchers... it could be messy and fun in a clowny kind of way... but as much as I am not opposed to that sort of thing at all, I worry about offending people...
Generally my zombie clown act idea alone could possibly offend... here’s hoping most folks are ok with it!

yea one day in class she sneezed & her ee rolled across the floor & he picked it up & as he looked into her eye & it looked into his it was love at first site then she smacked him & took it back then his heart was hers but she didn't want it

You might try pink or tan colored balloons. Inflate them completely and let the air out. Once you inflate them again to twist, they will be really soft. What every you try to form out of these balloons will be really soft and won't last as long as a first time inflated balloon. The shapes will look like you made them out of intestines. Of course, having never seen intestines that is just a guess.

Yeah red/tan/deep purple balloons (especially super thin long ones) work well for intestines.
