We're in the planninng stage but I think I have my ending. Two of my kids do the burden skit, were burdens are list on boxes and they build a cross. while the piano plays burdens are lifted at Calvery. I think I change it to much larger boxes with all the clowns carring out one and acting out the burden and together building the cross, then have the preacher say a few words while the youngest pass out sticky notes and ask the audience to write down any burden they have and bring it to the cross. What do you guys think?

That sounds really good I like the part about every one writing down a burden and putting it on the cross thats a good way for every one there to connect with the message and it being deliverd by clowns will help to make people more comfertable and more able to accept the message

Great idea Sue i wish i could be there to see it in action 8)

Our DCE (aka "Youth Pastor") did something similar at a youth retreat a couple years ago where he had the youth write down anything they want to get off their chest on a scrap piece of paper - unsigned, of course, fold it , and nail it to a small wooden cross. That cross still hangs in the youth room with our burdens attached - folded and nailed. I think it was very effective visual of giving your burdens to Christ and using the actual hammer and nails. It sounds like your clown way is cool too!

I think people like to keep their 'burdens' personal & private. Folded and nailed ensures that they cannot be easily read. I attended a similar thing where a candle and pan were available so we could burn the paper (at the foot of the cross of course).
