Good luck, some especially older people find change difficult and some will never see it the way you do, but remember all the people you touch. It's the people who don't know of the good news that need new and unque ways of reaching them. Good luck in your new town.

Default clown communion

A friend of mine was involved in the Walk To Emmaus, which is in the Methodist tradition. They have a clown communion that they do which is extremely good. I'll see if I can find a copy of the general idea. It's powerful because it blends humor with the real message.

We did it a few times at my church and got various responses. If you prepare folks for it, it seems to work out well.

Good luck and remember change is hard for a lot of people. I'm also choir director at my church, try adding any new music to people who are used to only old hymnal music. like pulling teeth, but most will come around and enjoy and some will never change.

Jubilee,
Did you ever come up with the copy of the clown communion? I sure would like to see it! Thanks and God bless you!

Jellybeanz--Glad to hear your venture went well and hope your move is all you wish. I hope you can share with us what you did. I have some ideas-not necessarily communion-but before I post them, I want to try to search the thread so as not to repeat.

Squiggles--I too would be interested in The Walk to Emmaus program.

I'm like Jitterbug I had never heard of that till now. I thought I went to pretty liberal church but I am pretty sure that It would not be allowed in my church. Atleast not by the church elders. They really went off the handle one wednesday night when a pastor lit a Charcoal grill in the church. Oh don't worry you'll always do good as long as you work with the pastor.

Default Clown communion

I have seen a clown commuion done in slince by a couple from Blythwood South Carolina(Danny and Sandy Hanna) they were wonderful. They never spoke a word But, we did not have a dry eye in the church when they were through. It was done to music and after he broke the bread, rather stabed the bread with a spike and after the bread was broke he pouded the blood(grape juice) from the cross. I have had them at the church twice.
