You can make it with foam core.

If you score (slice) one thickness of the foam core you can bend it in the oppisite direction. Do this to create the outside of the book (bible). Take a 4 inch strip that will reach around the 3 sides of the book. Measure it to be one inch in from the edge of the outer book. score it to bend it to make the three sides. glue it into place. If you glue just the one side down you can open the book if you want. Glue the ends to the spine of the book only leaving the top unattched.

I use a huge hollowed out book (purchased at a yard sale) with a black cover that says "Holy Bible." It's nice, because I can insert things in it. For instance, I have these pop-up golden nuggets. I put them in the hollowed-out Bible flat, and then they pop out when I open the Bible. I talk about the "golden nuggets of truth" in the Bible.

I can take the Bible cover off and put other covers on. For instance, I have a "Tale of Peter Rabbit" cover that I use for the same book and then, of course, I have Peter's tail inside.

I've got one that I made before I was a clown, ironically. I used 4 pieces of 3" wide oak strips (it had been intended for hardwood flooring) to make a box, and then covered it front and back with 1/8" luan plywood (with a small piece of ribbon sticking out). I painted front and back black, and wrote "Holy Bible" in fancy gold paint.

What I want to get is one of those ones that bursts into flame when you open it. Talk about fire and brimstone preaching!

Wink

I take a piece of foam the size I want the Bible to be and cut it almost in half so it will open like a book. I use a large piece of black poster board to make a cover and print Holy Bible on it. Add a large bookmark and you are all set. If you want to you can hollow out the insides of the "Bible" to store props.

Pretty much any spark that touches it will set it off.. I know some people hold it when they light it but I set it in my dove pan. It doesn't make my dove pan hot to the touch so might be ok in the foam. I'm not sure if I would trust foam core for it but if you place a container of metal and pad it with flame resistant material it should be ok.

I'm going to get a finger flame for future uses to eliminate using a lighter or match.

Bring it to camp and we can play!!!!! It is really easy and safe to use. I usually use cut off a small square about 2 by 2 inches. Many youth groups take squares this size and have the youth write their troubles on the papers then they give them to the counsler who lights them.

I doubt it's any good anymore. I bought it several years ago. Every time we move I'm paranoid that it's a fire hazard and it's going to spark a fire in the moving van. But instead of throwing it away, I wrap a wet paper towel around it and put in in a metal container. It's probably ruined. I'll add it to my packing list though.

What is flash paper, exactly? Is it just a piece of paper coated with magnesium?
