Frist pick a theme, (fall, beach, back to school, what ever and decorate the place to look like your theme and games to match.
We are having a fall fun day in Oct at my church, I am over it. I am going to have the bouncee thing as well as games and facepainting.
We are also having a chili cook off that day so my theme is going to be something a long that line (cook off) maybe have Miss-Me sew some small cooking aprons in safety green color. I will have meetings with the church members and get sugesttions from them as well. Hope this helps.
Games, games, games.
Set up different stations for games
facepainting
maybe bouncee thing.
people think of clowns as fun that is probley why she was choosen and a good thing as well. Clowns know what makes people happy and what they want to have FUN. Just use your skills as a clown to come up with what to do.

Party supplies, crafts, party decorations, toys: Oriental Trading is AWESOME for stuff like this!! And they have religious themed stuff too. GREAT place for prizes!! Oh, and one thing I've found is that you can get some good craft ideas from there that are generally easy to reproduce in larger quantity than having to buy a dozen packets that only make 10 or 12 of the craft. Just order 1, see what's in it, then hit the local craft store or wal mart or something!
I'm really hoping to get together a BACK TO SCHOOL BLAST for our church in August. But our ministry is in the process of a refining so we'll just have to wait & see what God has planned.

Once you have a theme set up you might want to ask the Sunday school classes to come up with boots with games and such. that way each class is a part of the whole and the committee isn't stuck doing everything. You might even get time to have some fun at the event as well.
For the booths all you would have to do is coordinate spaces and make sure they aren't all doing a dunking booth.

I went on orientaltrading.com for items to use and went to dollar stores for different lg prize. we had sidewalk chalk, duck pond, ball toss, stilts, fishing game, football toss, bozo game. then we had some group games like egg toss, sack race, relays. we had an activities cart with big flags on it so people would know where the next event was to be. i hired a professional clown to balloon and put on an extroidinary show. then we had refreshments. we had about 300 people ther it was great.
let me know if you need anymore ideas (i plan childrens events alot)
