My first Circus was when I was about 6, we went to the Clyde-Beatty Circus, it was great, so much to take in. Out of all the acts I remember the clowns.

Here are some facts you might or might not know.

Never look back during a parade. (Some shows fined those who transgressed.)
Never sit on the ringcurb facing out.
Never whistle in the dressing room.
Peacock feathers are bad luck.
Accidents happen in threes.
Elephants must always have their trunks up in pictures.
Hair from the tail of an elephant is good luck. (Often made into rings or bracelets.)

My first - actually - most of my circuses have been Shrine Circuses, from the time I was maybe 2yrs old.

My Dad started taking me to other circuses after he became a clown. I've seen Ring Ling, Hose Cole, Cole Bros, Garden Bros, Circus Royale, Hanniford (sp?) and some others whose names I can't think of right now. I saw Colidescape (?) when it was in Minneapolis several years ago.

We also have a thing called Circus Juventus in the Twin Cities, where they take kids that have learning disabilities and teach them circus acts, then the kids do like Cirque and tell a story with the routines they learned. I've seen their show once.

I've heard plenty of great things about that show. I need to come up to see it some year.

You've seen Carson & Barnes big tent show, haven't you? They typically play St. Paul.

Ok, so I never could remember if RL was 1 word or 2.

Ok, so I can't spell. It was so long ago that I don't remember much of it any more, but it was really cool, I do remember that much. And I've never met Irv or Ken Feld, although, if I had, I might have an in with Siegfried and Roy.

Maybe we'll have to have you up sometime and we can all go, I'd like to see C J again.

Yes, that was the show that was slipping my mind earlier when I was typing this, thank you.
