I'm pretty sympathetic with both sides of this argument if you can understand that. I've never worked closely with any circuses, but in my understanding they are businesses that have to manage their money pretty well. As such, I'm thinking those elephants are a pretty substantial investment and they're more apt to take care of the pachyderms than the folks they've got clowning for them. You know, the ones who live in the 5x6 room on the train. I'm making light of a bad situation but that's my job sometimes hehehe. Both sides have their valid points. I'd like to see the circus elephants and the circus clowns have the best life possible.

According to Ingrid Newkirk (PETA's President and CEO) has stated the purpose of PETA is "the total liberation of ALL animals." This includes pets, livestock and any other system of human animal interaction. Don't forget that unlicensed PETA employees killed several animals BEFORE they even got to the PETA facility. A Vetrinarian testified he gave them 2 of the cats which were extreamly adoptable and the employees promised to have them up for addoption. The animals were dumped in a grocery store trash bin. This was witnessed by police officers in a sting opperation.

PETA shows on its tax paperwork (501 (c) (3) public access) donated a large sum to the Rodney Coronado legal defense fund. He was found guilty of arson and attempted murder.

Penn and Teller have a vidoe on google video which shows documentation of the paperwork and vidoe clips of Peta personel.

There are a lot of crazies on all sides of this argument. PETA has more than it's fair share for certain, but again, much good has come from PETA projects.

I've no doubt that any orginization whose membership reaches the numbers that PETA has, is going to have bad seeds by the bushel.

That being said... because there are a load of whack jobs that happen to be taking on a cause doesn't mean it's a poor project.

Of course, radical views on any extreme accomplish nothing except alienating your cause...

Liberating ALL animals, while it may give people a warm fuzzy feeling - isn't practical.

Hunting I'm mixed on... I'd no doubt rather see animals controlled by adept hunters who use the animal for food rather than having a large deer crash through the windshield of a minivan killing a mom and her kids...

Adept hunters are hard to find. I wish they'd require a hunter-safety course nation wide to be qualified for a hunting license.

Livestock is tricky... Many of these animals may be extinct if it weren't for beef farmers. Ironic.

My issue with Slaughter farmers isn't raising animals for use as food. It's the poor living conditions, steroids, inhumane slaughter practices, etc.

Pets fall close to this...

I see so many crappy pet owners... Chained dogs or caged animals that get zero affection. Animals under-fed, or inbred for breeding mills. Last year we had hundred of dogs burned alive in a puppy mill operated by an Amish family. They had all the dogs caged inside a barn and was using fuel lamps to heat it. 200+ animals killed because on inept owners.

They were operating illegally, and pretty much denied any chance of ever operating in this area again. The only good thing to come out of the massacare... A good case of "Don't let the screen door hit you, where the Good Lord split you..."

Penn & Teller also did an Episode on How the Bible and all religions are bogus. I like them as entertainers, but I'll get my facts from a more legitimate and unbiased source.

Rodney Coronado is a long time ALF & ELF member. While he did do some bad stuff he has also made an attempt to turn his life around.
He has been convicted of several offenses, including arson. I know of him but have never heard of an attempted murder charge - do you have a reference for this?

I hope that Peta doesn't decide to do to the circus animals what they did a some dog shows - they turned some of the dogs loose to run free (very dangerous for the dogs!) My husband and I have raised dachshunds for 21 years and have shown them at many, many shows all over the US. The majority of show dogs are taken care of unbelievely well! Spoiled rotten!! My dogs always loved going on the road in the motor home and loved showing. The ones that didn't get to go would be upset! Our show days are over, and we have just two wirehaired dashunds now - they are children that are still at home. In 21 years, we finished 32 champions. All our dogs we placed in very special homes or lived with use until they died. Most lived to be 15+

As long as PETA supports criminal activity (Arson, Criminal Trespass and endangerment of people and private property by releasing pets to run rampant) and the main "Wack jobs" are the ones in control of the organization They remain supporters of terrorism just as their sub organizations are.

Just my opinion based on a preponderance of the evidence. If it smells like a skunk, looks like a skunk and acts like a skunk, odds are it is a skunk
