Fun Recipies (Clown food?) wanted...
Well, our city does a cooking show, called "Firehouse Fixin's
where they visit different stations, and the guys fix one of
their favorite recipies for the show.
We've been asked to do a show as the Safety Clowns,
so I'm looking to come up with fun food ideas.
The first thing we thought of was the "worm dirt" recipie
that uses oreos crushed up to be "dirt" with gummy worms
in it.
That might take the dessert idea -- we need an appetizer,
a main course and a dessert.
Of course, I wanted to show how to make Ice Cubes, but
I lost the recipie.....
Anyway, any suggestions for kid-friendly FUN foods for
clowns to make would be appreciated!
Take care,
Ashes

Ask Southwest Sam, they had a recipe going on that group awhile back on a cookie called cow pies [can't look worse than dirt].

How about a clown ice cream cone for dessert instead? Here's one example, and another. I first saw this idea in a Wilton's Cake Decorating book when I was a child, and they used a plain cone, whipped cream on the sides for hair, and M & M's for the face.

Scruffy asked me to post about my octopus on an island.
All it is...macaroni and cheese and a hot dog. It's not my original idea, although I think I might've given it that zany name.
Make the mac-n-cheese the normal way and put some in the middle of the plate. Take the hot dogs and cut them down lengthwise an inch and a half from the top on two sides so the end is in four strips (but don't cut them completely off!)
Toss the hot dogs into boiling water. Cover and turn off the heat. After 5-7 minutes, the cut ends curl up and the hot dog looks like an octopus. Place it on top of the mac-n-cheese. You can serve with Goldfish crackers or other things to keep the sea theme going.
It's very easy, but kids adore it. I don't know too many who won't eat good old mac-n-cheese and hot dogs.

That is a great idea Sassy! (I've even heard of a gadget to make the octopus.)

Can't forget ants on a log...
Cut celery stalks into three or four inch lengths. Spread either peanut butter or cream cheese (For Sassy, she doesn't like peanut butter :P ) in the groove, then sprinkle on a few rasins.

Nice, Scruffy!
Especially since we are thinking a lot about
hobo-ish things. We will probably only have
our 3 hobo clowns on the show, unless Buckets
and Clairol (auguste and whiteface) decide they
can make it...
Here's our menu ideas so far:
Main Course: Hobo's (Hamburger meat, carrots, potatoes
and onions cooked in foil wrap) -- can be buried in the coals of
a campfire or done in an oven.
Side dish: Grilled Corn
Bread: Loaves of sourdough bread. We'll call 'em "Loafers"
Dessert: Dirt cups.
I'll add in the "ants on a log" -- what outdoor meal would be
complete without the ants, eh?

Sounds great, Ashes. The kids ought to get a real kick out of that!
Princess, what will they think of next? Crazy! All it takes is two cuts with a knife. I don't need more dishes to wash than I already have!!

Octo-dog maker?
Oh, well. People bought Pet Rocks too.
Cute idea with the hot dogs, though!

I didn't. But you know, there's a gag in there somewhere.
