Default Finally started to thaw......

Well, Saturday was a first. Sassy and I twisted balloons and face painted at a easter egg hunt. In an unheated poll barn. The good news was we had wind break. Jasper and Miss Fitt however were right out in the snow doing the same thing.

What a strange easter.

That was one nasty cold event!! Kudos to Jasper and Miss Fitt for enduring the elements! It was above and beyond the call of duty for all those eager kiddies.

(round of applause)

PS--It took 90 full minutes for my butt to thaw out. No joke. You know how you can feel the cold radiate off your skin after you've been out in the cold? My butt did that for the whole 90 minutes. It's a miracle Scruff and I didn't have frostbite. (wouldn't want to explain how I got it there!)

I'll tell you what, I did a gig like that. T-G I doubled up the under layers but forgot my gloves. It was down on the water too, breezy (no doubt) The little kids had trouble sitting still for for face painting as their teeth chattering so bad. No need to add blush make-up highlights as there cheeks were already beet red. And, Oh god, the nasty runny noses. I wanted to leave to bad! Pull some kind of Diva clown excuse or something. But... it was for a marine corp function. If they could be tough and serve, I could be tough as serve too. That's what we do as clowns... we serve. You can't leave. Just can't. Just can't not show up either. Or be late as far as that goes. They need us, they want us. They may not know it, but they can't live with-out the joy we bring to the world.

We survived after all didn't we Sassafras! My hands are nice and warm now and my heart is warmed by those chattering blue lips that still ran to the clown froze up as those little legs were!

Yes, indeed, Miss Priss!

When Scruff and I first walked in that building, we weren't sure we should even set up. It was absolutely freezing. But those sweet kiddies were willing to endure the cold to have some fun, so Scruff and I determined to work despite the cold so the kids could have a great time. I admire the spirit of both the kids and their oh-so-patient parents!
