I'll be glad to post mine when I get a chance to scan it in. It may be a couple of days but I'll get it up.

I've been dreaming of having cards made up, die-cut in the shape of the jester's hat graphic with Clown Forum's URL running along the band of the hat. Probably prohibitively expensive though! Guess I'll stick to buttons

The expensive thing would be the die-cutting. Online with the right sale you could probably get 5000 double sided cards, full color, glossy finish on heavy card stock for a little over $100 plus shipping. Snipping the corners or shifting to baseball sized cards boosts the price considerably. Some of the sites run as litle as a 1000 cards for around $30.

I know there is a joke in there somewhere, but I just can't think fast enough to come up with one right now.

As an Idea, Being a tramp clown, I thought about getting labels made and putting them on the backs of old playing cards. Then when I give people my "Card" it's both a gag, and an inventive way to make a contact.
What think ye? Also, I can buy packs of used , worn playing cards, (like a tramp would carry) cheap from good will.
Opinions , please and thank you!

I'm not sure. This might be an option when you are totally Scruffy (no pun intended this time) or you are at a convention, but for the general public you want to present an image of professionalism at all times. You don't want someone who hasn't seen you in action to look at your card and toss it because you don't appear to be a real entertainer. That is where a professional card with your picture comes in so handy. Think of the executive going into a business meeting about the company picnic. The posibility of 3 or 4 hours of clowning for two or more clowns. We are talking a prime gig with a nice $$$ at the end. Is she going to want to impress her high powered friends by pulling out a tattered playing card or a nice crisp picture business card when she says "I know of a clown for the kids." The idea is definitely in character, but as an entertainer and a professional, you want the public to respect you as a master of the art. After all, we do.

It's my gimmick. People used to ask me if I had a card (before I developed one) and I'd have to answer, "Sorry, I don't." But I almost always carry around a pen and some paper to jot down a note or exchange contact information with people if need be. So one day I followed that up by quipping, "I have an index card!" It got a laugh. And I realized that I had something. So, now, my "business card" is information printed on colorful index cards. I use the patter, the whip out the cards. I can ask people what color they like or tell them to pick a card, any card. Just generally be playful with it. Hopefully, because it is different, it will stand out and they will keep it. I've used the back side of the card to write additional notes or sign autographs. If nothing else, seeing as how it stands out a bit, I trust that it won't just get lost in a pile with a million other business cards you get and might even stay by the home phone to get used for notes. Then it will be a constant reminder to folks about the possibility of hiring me.

I knew you had a good reason Tim just didn't know what it was. Don't give up faith though. I am still convinced there is a real bad joke almost garanteed to get a groan in there somewhere, and I am gonna find it.
