Face painting for little ones
As you might remember, I have a budding clown in my family. She is 6 years old, and wants to learn EVERYTHING a clown does.
One night, when I was face painting her cousin's face, she got ahold of my Paradise face paints, and literally RUINED the set. I couldn't get too mad at her because she was so proud of her face painting talent. I just sort of cried on the inside.
Well, one time when I was in Wal-Mart, I was in the craft section and came across a set of face paints, for, I think around $3.00. I looked it over, it was non-toxic and kid friendly. They had a small set and a larger set, so I bought them both. I told my granddaughter I had bought her some face paints, and you would have thought I bought her a new Porche! She was so excited, and couldn't wait to use them. I also bought her a $1.00 plastic cape to go over her clothes, so she sat down to use them. These paints are nice for a budding junior joey to practice with, and the price is definitely right. It sure beats getting the good ones ruined.
Little kids don't know how to get the right amount of paint on the brush, and tend to send the brush clear to the bottom of the paint and they also don't know how to NOT blend the colors. So ... that was lesson 2, after my face paints were ruined.
Anyway, I just wanted to share this with those of you who have small children who are aspiring clowns. And here are the pictures of my granddaughter as she was practicing on herself!!

BTW - I don't think I would recommend using these face paints for a professional. I don't know enough about them, but they're great for practice.

Well, she can't drive yet, so I suppose I'll have to take her to her outings. Or her mom will have to.

My daughter also started with them, there good for practice and you can get a small tray with liittle wells that will let her practice mixing to get different colors at walmart in the same section for about $1.00. Now I let my daughter use my paradise, she's 12 and for the last year has gone out with her art teacher and done face painting at 3 festivals without me.

My CHILDREN are 30, 28, and 26. My grandchildren are 11 (almost 12), 6 and 6. There is 3 months difference between my granddaughters. Both of my daughters were pregnant at the same time!

Thank you. I hope she doesn't lose her desire for clowning. I think sometimes older kids make fun of someone if they are clowns. I don't want that to happen.
