St. Patrick's Day Parade -2008
Here are some pictures of our St. Patrick's Day parade ... it was pretty darn COLD ... but we had a good time. My granddaughter and I told everyone we were twins and the reason she has the green things coming out of her head is so our mom could tell us apart!!
She wanted to keep everything on ... she didn't want to change back to herself!!

What is it with Northerners that put sugar in cornbread?? Thats not cornbread! When you put sugar in cornbread it becomes CAKE!!!
Put the sugar in the tea! Thats where it belongs! I like my tea to be so sweet that I can pour it on my pancakes if I run out of syrup!

Nettie, that is fantastic! The two of you look great. I saw a couple of other clowns in the background that I didn't recognize. May I ask their clown names?

Thank you ... we did have fun in spite of the COLD. I hope she was ok last night ... she spent the night at her other grandma's house with her cousins.
I forgot to tell you, her mother (my daughter) is in the hospital (as a patient) so we also went to the hospital, so she could see us.
We did NOT take the dog or paint him green as we thought we were going to do. For one thing, my granddaughter thought it would be too hard to take care of him. For another thing, he has a doctor's appointment this week and we were afraid the other dogs would make fun of him if he was green.
The big glove? My granddaughter wanted to use that and it was also a little warmer, so I let her use it.
Fitzwilly, the clowns you see are Knut and Suzi-Q. The orange hair you see is Chips (you know her) and the brown arm is Orky.
Here is the whole group from Michiana Clowns. The names are:
[IMG] [/IMG]
Names are: (Front Row): Nettie Belle, Jingles, Chips, and Tricksy. and
(Back Row): Sassy (Hopscotch's daughter), Hopscotch, Knut, Suzi-Q, Ro-Z, Orky, Star, Noodles, and Po' O' Sol. I also think I see Petunia's face hidden in the trees. I know she was there in spirit.
I am already looking for some WARM fabric to think about next year's costumes. My granddaughter loved being my twin, and I told her that I am going to make some WARM costumes for next year so we will have a choice. Indiana weather, especially this time of year, is SO UNPREDICTABLE! I'm thinking velvet, fleece, or maybe electric blankets with VERY LONG CORDS.

Excellent pictures, I,ve found thateven if it's cold to start that once I get started in a parade I get so involved in the crowd that I don't even notice the cold until the parade is over, then it's where can I get a good hot cup of coffee.

Wow Nettie that did turn out adorable!!!! Sonshine was in the parade in Holland and then went to Saugatuck's parade. She entered their Limerick contest and won 1st Place...
She had so much fun.

Great pictures and matching outfits. Was this your granddaughter's first experience as a clown? I need to get involved in a local alley so I can be in the parades.
I have volunteered for the DC 4th of July Parade a few times and helped with the giant helium balloons. But I am sure it would be more fun dressed as a clown.

This was her first time in the St. Patrick's Day parade, but she's been clowning in parades since she was 2. I hope she doesn't lose her interest, but I'm sure she will when she gets older. I'm just enjoying it for now. I think she loves parades as much as I do.
It would be so fun to be in the big parades ... I'm sure there is some sort of alley there ... I hope you can find one, Mike.
